I choose Tavern at Mission Farms to celebrate my amazing husband's birthday. I was extremely disappointed in the service and even more disappointed in the manager on duty last night (12-3-21), Brittany.
From the moment we were seated it was all downhill.
When cleaning the table, chairs, or benches from a previous patron... How hard is it to wipe the seats off?
Well, for Tavern at Mission Farms it must be hard... There was beverage splatter all on the bench, along with crumbs that I had to ask be wiped off.
So, imagine my disdain when I had to ask for them to be dried off as well. Shouldn't that be where common sense kicks in? Who would want to sit down on something wet?
My husband and I ordered the crab cakes and the fried mac and cheese for starters. The fried mac and cheese was fabulous! The crab cakes on the other hand were BURNT, and full of grease. We sent them back needless to say.
I then ordered the seafood pot pie because the waitress said it comes out super flaky and soft... I received a BURNT pot pie & my husband received his strip steak (which he enjoyed).
It took a while for anyone to come back to our table so I told my husband to eat. The manager (Brittany) just happens to come by and say I see you need a spoon (I had a spoon, btw). I said, no, I need this BURNT pot pie to go back so I can order a different item... Brittany’s response was, oh, wow... That's our perfect cook on the crust. I looked at her and said, well if it is that's horrible. It wasn't brown, it was black, and clearly left unattended. Brittany, take ownership of misses & don't provide customers with what you think sounds good. A blind person could see that both the crab cakes and pot pie was BURNT. I ended up ordering the filet and wasn't able to enjoy eating with my husband. We were given a $5 free dessert for our troubles. Typically, that would have sufficed but it didn't because Britanny doesn't know how to own...
Read moreI just left my birthday dinner fromTavern, a restaurant I CHOSE to go for my birthday based on the multiple times we have been there before and I doubt we will be back. So very disappointed. We had reservations, I requested a booth as both my parents are recovering from surgeries & told them it will be a celebration for my bd. I was told at the time of the reservation that they could only do that IF boothes were available, annoyed but figuring we have had positive experiences before it would be ok. Upon arrival told they had no booties but a a half booth half chair set up. The first spot our party of 4 were were slammed between two ther parties & the intense loud shouting & cackling from a lousy drunk party behind us. We asked to be moved & frankly I told the hostess, fix or we will walk as I was annoyed they blew off my requests at the time I made the reservation.
The main reason I come is the most amazing strawberry basil vodka drink, the first one was was bareable, it’s my bd so thought I’d try another, itvwas better but in no way enough it Bri g me back. Our waitress, Rachel, was flat out non responsive to refilling anything in terms of water or cocktails, so very very very different from what we have exoeyinced before.
Food was extremely mediocre. This is place we have celebrated bds, Christmas Eve, etc we expected much more. Thinking I would be OFFERED a bd treat, no dice, I had to ask when dessert was offered if this was there treat or not, it was, and frankly it was the best part of my meal.
The bill comes & we were over charged for cocktails, good thing my dad always looks over the bill! Left so disappointed!! And as I type my stomach is already a mess!!!
Bad, very bad. Won’t be back, get it together! -long...
Read moreI had an absolutely appalling experience at Tavern recently. While I understand seating is tricky with holiday crowds, it never warrants abusive treatment of patrons.
When first seated, our waitress curtly mentioned special menus were prohibited there, setting an unwelcoming tone from the start. The real hostility though came later from both her and the manager over an innocuous offense - adjusting seating for guest comfort.
When we moved a chair to accommodate our table, instead of politely asking us not to as would be understandable, the manager publicly scolded us in dramatic, visceral fashion. Her disgust and contempt was staggering over such a minor infraction.
Similarly, the waitress maintained a profoundly nasty attitude throughout the evening, dropping checks off before we even finished eating in a presumptuous rush to turn tables quicker. The brazen ploy to rush us out early, paired with the manager's verbal attack over moving furniture, displayed outrageous hostility.
In my many years dining out, I have truly never witnessed such violently abrasive attitudes from restaurant staff before. The entire experience felt like vicious crowd control tactics rather than earnest hospitality service.
After being subjected to such open resentment paired with unclean facilities and the verbal assaults from management over basic requests, I will certainly not return. While enforcing rules has its place in busy rushes, it never justifies resorting to such hostile degradation and verbal abuse toward well-meaning patrons. I frankly expect far better basic manners and conduct from establishment...
