My daughter posted photos of cakes I purchased from this bakery that were for a big event at a restaurant for my father-in-law’s 90th birthday and it received a response from the bakery but I feel the need to address this myself. I wanted to get a special cake from a bakery rather than a usual grocery store sheet cake for a very special 90th birthday celebration. I had seen this bakery numerous time driving by and they had good reviews, so I went there to possibly order a cake on December 6th for an event on December 15th. When I went in there was only one type of cake in the case and it was not the type I wanted for this kind of event. I asked about a custom cake, described basically what I was looking for (a birthday cake for a big event, festive edges/frosting decorations with writing on the top) and was told they don’t do that. While I was disappointed, I was prepared to leave and go elsewhere. I was not desperate, I had other places to try, I still had plenty of time before the event, and I was NOT begging them to make something they don’t do. The gentleman helping me started insisting they could do what I wanted. I was honestly a bit worried because there was nothing in the shop to look at where I could say that is what I wanted, so I was leaving this entirely to the expertise of what I assumed was an experienced baker who would know what a birthday cake for a special occasion should look like. I told the man to let the baker know to call me if she had any questions about the order and I did not receive any calls. They have a lot photos on instagram that I was not aware of at the time of the order, but saw after this happened. The gentleman helping me never offered to show me any photos of what they could do, and have done, so I could possibly choose one of those styles. He showed me some cupcakes in their case with the decorative frosting swirls on top and said that is what they would do on the cakes for me with smaller swirls, but that is not what was on the cakes I received. I was not being done a favor…..he didn’t want to lose the sale and the responses to this issue from the bakery are implying that they were doing me a favor to make these cakes. When I picked up the order and he lifted the box lids, I saw extremely plain looking cakes with thin dirt-brown letters on top. When he proudly declared that they came out "really nice", I literally didn’t know what to say. We just left and I tried my best to “fix” them. I sent the bakery a message through their website after the event telling them what an ordeal this caused but received no response until my daughter posted her negative review—THEN the man at the bakery called me to apologize for the fact that I was not satisfied and implied that they were doing me a favor by making something they don’t do. Let me state clearly that I did not ask for a favor. I only did the order after he repeatedly insisted they could do it. I paid $65 EACH for those cakes and while I am at fault for not refusing the cakes and asking for a refund, it was the afternoon before this event which was the next morning on a Sunday and I didn’t have time anymore to order someplace else. Every time I think about this, what those cakes looked like, and how much I paid, it makes me ill. If you want to see photos of what I received, just look through the reviews until you find the review with two photos of plain looking cakes with brown letters on top. I have conveyed what happened at this bakery and now I am going to try not to think about this anymore. I will not be going back...
Read moreI was quite excited to try this place as I am a huge fanatic of all lemon goods, baked or otherwise. However, I was sad to come away as unsatisfied with this experience. 😔
When I stopped in, I saw a lemon cake that was under a glass cake cover. I went pretty early in the morning and was excited to try a taste of what I assumed was fresh lemon cake. Boy was I wrong! 🚨
Not only was the slice of cake I got 9 dollars, but it was relatively small. And the worst part was it had clearly been made the day before. Maybe I’m not up to date with fresh cake timelines and expectations for local bakeries but I was disappointed with the quantity and quality of my lemon slice and I can only review what the bakery has given me upon purchase.
Not trying to sound snobby but I wasn’t too impressed with the workers behind the counter either. My experience was that I could have been a ghost in the room and gotten more attention. They didn’t seem to care if I was there or not.
Ultimately, I’m left feeling sad and disappointed by lemon cake bakery. I feel like they need a major change up in both quality snd service to bring me back. Shame, because I’m a sucker for lemon treats. Couple that with the fact that they don’t pay their engineering consultants and you’ve got a pretty reprehensible...
Read moreI want to start by saying I have only visited here once. I was a consulting engineer that assisted with the design of this space. I showed up on the second day they were open to show support, despite not yet being paid, and the owner acted like I did not exist when I walked through the door despite being the only person in the shop on their second day being open. I initially gave the owners a discounted fee for the work because I genuinely wanted to help them out. I went above and beyond my contractual obligations during the design process and even worked out of pocket on evening and weekends to avoid charging them additional fees with multiple reassurances that I would be compensated for my efforts on future projects. Fast forward nearly 2 years, and they are still refusing to pay the fee they agreed upon by signing our contract, despite several times reaching out via email, phone and text. I cannot speak much to the food quality except my one experience, which was just okay, but I would NOT recommend supporting this business. Find other places to buy baked goods and coffee where the owners have...
