2024 - June 29th: Spent the afternoon & evening at Leo-Cedarville Riverside Gardens volunteering for the Leo-Cedarville Foundation's 2024 Freedom Festival. The park was so tidy, very beautiful, and peaceful when I arrived.
The festival attendees were all very friendly and outgoing, even as the day passed and the crowd grew. Families played at the Splash Pad, tossed frisbees and chucked beanbags for rounds of corn hole. Adults sat out picnic blankets for the feast they found among the Food Trucks (12 or more of them!), and enjoyed the concert of music from the DJ & Band (both darn good).
There were children's activities for the little ones, volley ball for the bigger ones, a raffle for a cash prize, events on the river for adults, and at the end of the evening, Independence Day Fireworks (BEAUTIFUL). Extremely impressed by how well this park is managed on ordinary days. But with a full capacity of visitors it still remained clean, safe and everyone treated each other with respect and kindness. That's rare. Shout out to the Foundation team for superb planning and execution of today's events!
I enjoy this park when almost empty and filled to the brim with lovely events like this. So glad I live in Leo-Cedarville, and can enjoy their parks often. It was a very positive visit and I truly recommend it to people...
Read moreNice, big park. We had a picnic here for Father's Day, and everyone really enjoyed it. The splash pad is very nice, but beware, it is well water, so there is a lot of discoloration. The rock river was really neat, too. You can fish at the river but there's a lot of brush and that made it difficult for more than one person to fish at a time. They also have corn hole boards, no bags though, so bring your own.
Nice pavilions. My DIL rented one 4 years ago for my grandson's birthday. However, there wasn't any signage that said it had been rented out, and another family came in and set up a party of their own prior to us getting there, had balloons and tables decorated and taken up half of the pavilion. She rented this one specifically for the location to the bathrooms and splash pad. I'd suggest making sure the parks department does a better job securing paid reserved spots. After talking with the other family, who were very apologetic and didn't know they'd taken up a paid for area, they did split the fee with my DIL so they didn't have to move ALL of their food, decorations, gifts etc. But that then limited the space we had for guest seating and set up. We made it work, but hopefully, they've implemented a...
Read moreRiverside garden is a beautiful place that brings a lot of things to light. The beautiful river going through the center of the park makes you have a sense of peace and serenity. All of that, paired with the landscaping and splash pad, brings about a perfect expirience for both adults and children. There are several different activities, a few pavilions, and my favorite, some benches. Some of the benches are hidden within the forest, overlooking the river. And others are out in the open. Another great part of Riverside Gardens in Leo is that there are events year round! Fireworks sround the fourth of July, different craft fairs, and even volleyball throughout the warmer months. It is a place to relax, come together with your family, and even enjoy nature with the water garden in the corner of Riverside. And for thosr interested, Riverside Gardens is a hotspot for Pokemon Goers. Several pokestops, a gym, and even more pokemoners walking the...
