This is the best place to go for an eye injury. At least it was for mine, and some others that I have talked to while we were waiting to be called back. Myself I've got an eye infection that caused damage to my cornea. Before I came to this office my regular eye doctor told me about the infection/damage to the cornea and referred me to someone else. I didn't like what I was told by the first eye specialist so I started looking for someone else. I called every eye doctor, and i mean everyone, around the lexington area all the way to Pikeville. Once I told them what injury I had and what was happening with my eye. Every office I talked would say I need to call Huffman &Huffman. No one wanted to see me or maybe thought they weren't the best for my particular injury to my eye. So I made an appointment and have been here for going on 4-5 months I think. And one my very first visit the doctor I saw was just straight to the point about what he saw and what was going to happen if I didn't do all they said. He definitely didn't sugar coat anything. He definitely wasnt rude or mean but he was to the point. Also after talking to other patients that have been seen by other doctors before they made it to Huffman &Huffman and listening and seeing for myself how much damage and trouble they had from allowing the other doctors to care for them first. I honestly feel bad for them but I am so glad that all the people who answered the phone at the doctor's I called first was honest enough to tell me where I should be seen and allow to take care of my infection/injury. Ii can honestly say that if I ever have another issue with my eye. Then as long as they will see me I know where I am coming from now on. All I can say is if anyone else is wondering about where they should come to treat their eye injury. Then please take my advice and come to...
Read moreI was referred to this specialist for a same day appointment due to a corneal ulcer that had been getting worse for almost 2 weeks despite treatment. James Hoffman I believe is who I saw. He was rude and short, in and out of the exam room in less than 5 minutes. He dismissed all of my questions and medical history and sent me on my way with a diagnosis that two previous eye drs did not think it was. The meds Hoffman put me on made me incredibly ill. Since his demeanor was so unprofessional and he was so dismissive, AND my ulcer was STILL getting worse on his treatment, I sought another opinion as well as blood work to confirm or deny Hoffmann diagnosis (because he did absolutely no test to confirm his idea) and come to find out he completely misdiagnosed me! Not only do I have labs to confirm he was wrong, I also sought immediate emergency care with someone else after two days of being violently ill and worsening symptoms whom also agreed with the previous eye dr, and assured me Hoffman was wrong so we changed treatment. And within less than 24hrs of the new treatment, my ulcer and pain had improved over 50%. The rudeness and dismissive behavior of this provider literally could have costed me my vision. No provider should ever dismiss a patients questions or medical history. No provider should make patients feel so unheard and rushed as they did. Thank GOODNESS I trusted my gut, and went for another opinion. 10/10 would never recommend this practice PARTICULARLY James Hoffman to my...
Read moreMy son had an appointment at this office yesterday. It was the first time visit, the young lady who examined him was very nice also another young lady who assisted. The Dr. was very rude he came in didn’t introduce himself or anything. He questioned my son asking if he had been vaccinated because he pulled his mask down for the eye exam after being dilated. I was very disturbed by the Dr. coughing saying something was in his throat and using his open hand to cough while examining my son. Though he had a mask on I don’t feel that was appropriate behavior this day and time. I have thyroid disorder which causes one eye to bulge he didn’t talk directly to me and my son after examining no eye contact other looking at me questioning why my eye was slant and said I need to come see him. I don’t know if our race had something to do with the way he treated us or he treats everyone that way. I wasn’t happy with that appointment. Such a lengthy review but I had...
