I think the lack of authentic Japanese restaurants in Lexington make people believe that the service and food offered at this establishment is of acceptable quality. The menu consists of overpriced garbage, and you'll end up paying a fortune for mediocre sushi and sashimi of similar quality offered at Krogers; honestly that is probably an under statement, Krogers do it better, and at a fraction of the price. At Tekka's, you'll be paying a 100% price inflation for their futile and pitiful attempts at culinary arts. I guess a pathetic attempt at recreating a caterpillar on your plate with comical amounts of flowers and inedible objects justify the horrendous taste of whats served to you. I thought I was becoming a barnyard herbivore! I dislike restaurants that have to result to circus level acts to cover up the fact they're serving their consumers nothing by recycled slop.
The waiting staff is absolutely incompetent and unaware of consumer needs, you'll most likely be waiting 10 - 15 minutes to even get service. Not to mention, the fact that they'll actively profile you and treat you with absolute disrespect if you don't fit their ideal consumer profile. The ludicrous part of it all, is that the wait staff will expect you to tip them %20 of an outrageous bill for the laughable service they've provided. Lazy, hopeless, rude, and beyond believable. If you're into that type of thing, and you like paying three figures for being treated like garbage, than this is your place!
It would seem like this establishment survives off the public image of being a "fancy" dining hotspot. Coming into the establishment, I already got a bad impression by the extremely tacky layout, poor lighting, the lack of a proper and respectful greeting, and the strategic kitchen placement. As I said, this restaurant relies on tacky, circus like acts to justify their poor excuse for food and services. The moment I saw one of the chefs flipping his kitchen utensils around like a birthday clown, I knew I was in for a wild ride. Unfortunately when I dine at a restaurant, I want the chef to take pride, love, attention and care into his/her work rather than preoccupy themselves with doing cheap tricks and letting my food deteriorate. If you want your consumers to pay the price they do, at least try a little better. If I wanted to view circus acts, I wouldn't be in a restaurant.
This establishment's mentality is that they can do no wrong, and if you bring up a complaint to an appropriate manager, or staff member, you'll be met with rude, hostile, and imbecile behavior. The only time they'll consider your complaint is when it is made known to the public, then suddenly these people will act so concerned, yet the responses remain so insincere.
To conclude this review, this establishment is a poor excuse for a fine dining restaurant, I would not even spend a single dollar bill for anything offered here. I wouldn't even step foot in this establishment, even if I was paid by the owner to specifically eat here. I find it absolutely appalling that a restaurant that claims high quality, and charges these outrageous prices are literally beaten in both quality, and service by a chain restaurant such as Chilis. How this establishment is still operating beats me. Hence, the lack of diverse competition for Japanese Sushi & Grills in Lexington allows this establishment to get away with operating inexpertly. But it'll only last for so long.

Read moreServer and cook did great and have no complaints. They actually wanted to make sure we tipped properly. It was a little different with a cook and we did not know whether to tip the cook separately then the server. So I went up and asked the hostess if they split the tip or if we need the tip separately. I wouldn't have to make sure there was enough tips so I asked about the percentage. Apparently this is a red alarm to this restaurant. I went back to my wife to check how but she had put on the tip to make sure is enough to cover both people. We wanted to tip 20% to each. Apparently the hostess went and told someone in charge because that person came to our table and what appeared to us as a very defensive aggressive mood and said that he was told that someone asked about their tipping procedures or something. And I said yeah we were just wondering because we wanted to make sure that the cook was also tipped. There wasn't much more said. It wasn't like it was a big thing. But that did raise red flags with me. It makes me wonder what the background of this restaurant is like. Are the cooks just regular people working a job or they in some situation that you hear about on the news where restaurants get raided in the cooks are not legals and their passports are being held. That's what I think when someone comes up in an aggressive way and being very defensive. It makes me sway away from this place in the future even though the servers were really great and the food was what you...
Read moreThe manager was SO SO rude! We came in a busy night and had a one hour wait for a hibachi. We were sitting in the “waiting” area along with at least ten other customers waiting for their turn. The only difference is that we had two “backup” tables placed in front of our seats. All of a sudden, the manager pops out of nowhere SCREAMING at us and OUR KIDS who were politely sitting and placing their iPads on the table watching their amusement show. He screamed at us that we didn’t even know what was going on, he pulled out the tables aggressively and we immediately took off the iPads and purses that were placed on the table thinking this was the issue. Nope, he continued to be so aggressive and rude asking us to not sit there and to leave the restaurant. We rightfully refused to leave since we’ve waited for 40 min already and didn’t do anything wrong other than sitting in the area that the receptionist directed us to sit in. Things only escalated at that time, pointing fingers and continued to yell that he made a big scene. When we refused to leave, he said angrily “I Own this place and I can kick you out if I want to”. We ended up leaving ONLY because we didn’t feel safe with our three and five year old. This place is garbage as long as that manager is there. The first manager I meet who CREATES harmful problems rather than tries to calm the situation down. Never again stepping a foot there until that...
