Beauty and serenity come to downtown Lexington in this hidden gem! Need to clear your head? Admire God's handiwork? Need peace in the middle of your busy life? This is the place!!! Rushing waters, a quiet pond, history at its finest. You will encounter so much wildlife- fish, turtles, butterflies, bees, bats and waterfowl all have a home here. Bat houses spread throughout make it a virtually mosquito-free paradise (no worries if they scare you- I did not see a single bat the entire time). Easy to follow trail markers make it a breeze to navigate! Children will love watching the turtles sunbathe, the fish coming up to you in the pond or seeing the butterflies flutter by, as well as experiencing the boiling springs. Historical markers throughout so you learn the rich history of this charming place. Signs by several different trees for identification. They encourage social distancing, and masks are only required if you go inside the building to use the restroom or pick up information. The rest of the main building is closed due to Covid as of 9/4/20. If you have the chance to go, please go. It's food for your tired soul.

This was a really cool stop I just wish I went there in the Spring or Summer when it was warmer. One thing you will notice right away is that the people working there are so ridiculously nice it's amazing. Also they have a really great indoor learning facility with live animals, fossils, bones, skins and more. The trails are really well pathed so even people with wheelchairs, crutches and walkers can enjoy it no problem. This is a wonderful way to get out of the car and stretch your legs and give the kids a way burn off some energy that's both entertaining and educational.

This is one of my favorite trails when taking little kids. I absolutely love that they have a full trail that is pavement. Though everything looks prettier in the spring after it's bloomed, it still is nice to get out and enjoy nature. I love that there are so many signs that explain the history. I love the exhibits on the inside building as well. There is a nice picnic area to eat and trash cans. I love the sign-in sheet so they can find us if something was to happen. There are so many wonderful things about this trail.

McConnell springs park in the middle of Lexington Kentucky is a jewel. Multiple springs, multiple walking paths, and beautiful trees. If you ever want to visit Lexington this park should be on the list to visit. Very secluded and relaxing and the spring water is beautiful. One of the springs is 15 feet deep. Also has a visited center and education area for kids to learn about animals and trees. This park will be on my list to walk and hike on a regular basis.

Beautiful serene walking trail. Has water and bridges with a very old bur oak that is neat to admire. The blue lagoon is fun to view through polarized lenses. The water flows diwn to the boils. I hear the boils are best viewed after a hard rain. Last but not least, the turtle pond was a refreshing surprise. Only downfall to this quaint trail park is that it is in the middle of an industrial park and smells like asphalt.

McConnell Springs is a great place to walk or just enjoy nature. Most of the paths are handicap accessible and perfect for kids in strollers. In warm weather the pond is filled with turtles, frogs and fish. Springtime is great for wildflowers and autumn leaves are beautiful in the fall here. The pumpkin trail is a must see in late October. There are hundreds (maybe a thousand) jack-o'-lanterns lining the trail.
