The people: Staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive. Fellow patrons were all polite and friendly.
The drinks: Excellent variety of liquor, heavy on brown (by quantity, bourbon then rye then rum). Mixed drinks are prepared fresh. I recommend their Barrel House Distillery Bourbon Flight - it gives a good sense of their products, but should not be had on an empty stomach.
The food: All we had was the burgoo. It was served hot. I would describe it as stew with a splash of chili seasoning. The rabbit was faintly tough, and, if I correctly guessed what was beef and what was elk, the beef was well above standard for stew (very tender) and the elk was even better (good flavor, very tender). The corn mash muffin was good; moist and lightly buttered. My frame of reference is pretty much just the "Jiffy" box mix, and this was less sweet with a faint spiciness /sharpness.
The atmosphere: Chill. A soccer world cup match involving the USA was on which drew some attention. When that ended, things emptied and quieted a bit. Music - classic and older country / country rock / rock / funk/soul - wasn't too loud and set a great relaxed vibe.
Parking; Busy (shared with two distilleries) but spaces...
Read moreIf I could give this place a 0 star rating, I would. My sister has been having a difficult time in her life and I wanted to treat her by taking her to dinner. We sat outside and did not even receive a clean table nor a menu before the server asked for our ID’s just to bring them back 10 minutes later telling us she could not serve us. My sister is 25 years old and I am 23. I went inside to speak politely to the bartender what was going on and to get security or police involved because they were in fact real ID’s. The bartender was extremely rude and disrespectful towards me. Even the manager apologized for his behavior. I am disappointed I even wasted my time coming here. I’m more ashamed for the other staff who work with this horrible,...
Read moreThis place is attached to an historic distillery and features a load of drink options. We've enjoyed ourselves here each time we've come but the wait staff here have been the one fly in the ointment. For us things have generally been very slow eve during less busy times. I'm sitting in the tavern now as I type this and this time we had to go to the bar to place our order and bring it back to the table ourselves. We had to get our own menus and water also. As we sat here we watched two people walk in then leave after not being served. Overall it's a great place but our luck with service...
