I was heading home from an appointment in Tyler and decided to take the back way home. While doing that I checked to see what, if any, there was in the towns I would be driving through. Lake Hawkins was a pleasant surprise. The attendant at the entrance was very friendly and let me drive in to check out the RV park and beach. The rate for a day pass is $5. The resort has spots for RVs and tents. This is a clean and very well taken care of park. Check out the pictures of the beach. The beach was clean of debris and it felt good on a hot humid day to walk down into the water. Note the 6 swings located next to the dam at the edge of the sand and grass bank. Check out all the picnic tables on the knoll to set all your goodies out for the day. You also have the grassy area for those preferring to layout a blanket for the little ones. That is if you don’t want to play in the clean sand.

First full weekend in September. Almost perfect weather, upper 50s to upper 70s. No clouds. Just a bit windy. The whole park is very clean. The beach area is well kept. Friendly staff. Was surprised that there wasn't more campers, less than half of the sites were occupied. Even day use was down from what I've seen in the. Have been here several times in the past 8 to 9 years. There have been many changes for the better. I recommend site 37. It has 50A and water, a concrete pad, and a good view of the water. Also, a metal picnic table, fire ring and a small cooker. Great place for a weekend getaway or even snowbirders. Convenient to Tyler, Longview and most of East Texas. Just be sure to bring what you might need. Not much in the area, a Dollar General, a Sonic, a couple of local restaurants and gas stations. They do have a nice camp store.

The beach was so much cleaner than how it used to be. The made who we paid to get in was very friendly and they take taking cars of the park very seriously. We love that!! The kids swam and played in the sand. We haven't been there in a decade but will definitely be back for the lake and for the tacos across the street. She is a GEM!

First time going this past weekend. It is now going to be my go to lake, the "beach" is actually really nice, they have plenty of picnic benches, swing sets, volleyball nets, tetherball, the water isn't all mirky we could see fish swim by. There's also alot of parking. It's $5 a person ($1cheaper than tyler state park). They have a sno cone truck and i think they have a small store somewhere where they sell ice cream or ice and stuff this might be at the entrance im not sure but its available!, maybe I just went on a non busy day but it was really nice, and the lady who greeted us at the entrance fee spot was real sweet, you can tell it's a family owned kind of business....
