I was a lucky chaperone for my child’s kindergarten field trip. We were all so excited to visit this living farm. When we arrived Ms Angela gathered us into a room to provide information. She proceeded to say where things were on the farm by pointing, however we were inside the building and not familiar with “over to the right” or “all the way to the left”! I took my group out to the farms. We had no idea where we could and couldn’t go, and they must have been short staffed because we only saw 2other staff members, who seemed to busy to answer any of the curious kindergarten questions. As we gathered near the entrance to leave, the woman in the front told us several times, this wasn’t the entrance or exit for field trips. It was for “the public”. She did not even attempt to hide her irritation with our group. They had a stack of one page maps on a table. My group (4 kids) asked me if they can have one to show their parents where they had gone. I thought that was a great idea and said yes. Well, Ms Unfriendly gate keeper of maps was beyond irritated huffing and puffing. Ms Angela comes up and they proceed to whisper to each other and roll their eyes. They told the kids, “why do you need a map, those are for the public when they arrive”. Well, Ms Angela, we were never offered a map. We paid to visit this place and if you are not comfortable with kindergarteners please do not allow this age group. You successfully made my group...

Hi,

My name is Glenys van Aswegen and I am from South Africa. I am here visiting my daughter in Denver and we visited the museum yesterday.

My first impression of the museum was great. The facility is clean and the displays are informative and very interesting.

However, I was a little saddened when I walked through the farm section of the museum.

It was a very hot day and the sheep were all fighting for a little shade created by the fence enclosure. There is no natural shade for these poor animals. Also their water was filthy and standing in the baking sun!!!

The ram's enclosure was even more distressing. He was just lying in the baking sun and his water was so contaminated with mosquito lava that I can't imagine when last it was actually cleaned.

The turkeys were walking around in their very uninteresting enclosure, panting from the heat and there was no water in sight!!!

The pig looked comfortable enough but even his enclosure was extremely poor and dirty.

I think the "Littleton Museum" should take a good look at the image they are wanting to create - especially in the farmyard area.

The basic requirements for keeping animals is very basic - a good enclosure, protection from the elements, fresh water and clean food.

I think the museum has failed to conform with these basic requirements and feel that an animal inspection should be made to your facility.

Kind...

I have been going to The Littleton Museum and Farm for years now and I have always had a great experience there. I think it is a blessing to have such a good museum and farm free of charge. My two year old son absolutely loves going to the farm because farm animals are his favorite animals. Today I had a great time with my son at the farm and upon entering the museum I decided to go into the gift shop to buy some farm toys and books for my son. The gift shop is small so I made sure to have my son close to my side the entire time. There were a lot of toys and books so I took a few stuffed animals from a shelf to show him and I also showed my son a couple of books. Each time I would place the item back exactly where it came from. I also read the first two pages of about three books when the younger of the two ladies from the front desk stated in a very condescending manner to “refrain from reading the books” because “there is a reading area with plenty of books and really comfy chairs.” I have never heard that a person should not look through a book before purchasing it. I was very confused by her comment towards me and unfortunately her comment really made the experience a bit negative. I was the only person in the gift shop with every intention to spend my money on a few items, but due to her condescending comment, I decided to...

I recently visited the Littleton Colorado Museum with my two boys, ages 12 and 9, while we were in town from out of state. I wasn’t sure what to expect, thinking it might be a typical museum experience, but it far exceeded our expectations. The dinosaur exhibit was a major highlight! It was interactive and really brought the world of dinosaurs to life for my boys. They were so engaged and excited to learn. We also enjoyed the other exhibits, especially the exhibit on the waterway, which explained the Colorado water distribution system . The interactive portion where they could pretend to control the water was a big hit with them. The 1860s farm exhibit was another favorite. It’s an actual working farm that replicates life in the 1860s, and we were able to walk through the buildings where people were working and performing everyday tasks. My boys had so many great questions and really enjoyed interacting with the staff. We thought we would be there for just a quick visit, but ended up staying for 2 1/2 hours. The museum was an amazing experience, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

An excellent destination for an enjoyable afternoon outing awaits you at this place. It caters well to both young families with children and seniors like ourselves. Initially, we had some reservations about visiting in January, as we were unsure if the outdoor farms would be closed for the winter season. However, to our delight, everything was bustling at the 1860 and 1890 farms, along with the blacksmith shop. We were graciously guided by several kind gentlemen who showcased their craftsmanship at the forge. The indoor history exhibits were remarkable, and we particularly relished the newer theater where we could watch informative videos about the museum and the history of Littleton.
