Gregg County Historical Museum — Attraction in Longview

Great place to learn about much of the local history. The displays are kept very clean and organized. The beautifully ornate old bank building has several rooms with a variety of displays. The military gun collection is very interesting, along with an impressive collection of Caddo Indian pottery recovered from the East Texas area, a room with displays relating to the hot air balloon races in Longview, and lots more. This was my first time visiting and I have to say, a Christmas time visit is the best! So much history and the very best in Texas style story telling. The tour was amazing, I could have stayed here all day if time allowed. This experience is great for just adults or for the whole family. I was even able to watch them put together this incredible train set which was really special! Ok and I have it on good authority, on the third floor may or may not be a haunted coffin! I'm not sure if you can receive a tour all throughout the hours, but requesting a time would help. It is 2 stories of artifacts that date back thousands of years up to the era of world war II. Great place to take kids or a date/family from out of town.
