Lorain Ohio is a nice city to visit. It was a thriving city in the 1950s. It started cascading in the 1960s. It had an American ship building co there, US Steel, and Ford motor co; big contributors to the city. All that is gone now. The city still has potential. I don't know what the mayor is doing to bring big jobs back to Lorain. I did watch a video on the mayor online. I was not impressed regarding jobs. No one walks downtown on Broadway. I took a stroll from one end of Broadway to the other. I was alone the complete time. They need to go after the young up an incoming entrepreneurs to live there and work and big tech jobs. Whatever cleveland flats (the flats have a high crime rate, so be careful), did Lorain need to model them. That is a sure-fire way to build up downtown. Also, the mayor needs to go after big corporations to come there. I read online that the home owners are responsible for putting in their own sidewalks. That is so ridiculous. The people pay taxes the city should install nside walks. Walking on kobe Road is dangerous. There are too many streets without sidewalks. The owners of the property are thinking I ain't paying for that. I wondered what the city was doing with taxes payer money. Lots of dilapidated buildings. Another thorn is that bicycle riders are required to get bicycle licenses;3$. I think that's wrong. Oh, well, there are good politics and bad politics. We need to figure out which one is running...
Read moreThis is the town I was born in 63 years ago. I attended a speech on my birthday. It was about the tornado in 1924 that devastated Lorain. It was quite a story accompanied with a slideshow. It was interesting and informative. The building donated by Andrew Carnagie is well built, clean and historical. There were several exhibits on the culture of the town of very diverse peoples. It had a history of the contributions of the black and spanish population, but nothing on the large polish population in Lorain ....funny how white people are marginalized these woke days. A form of reverse discrimination that I belive is hypocritical , typical of liberal so called progressives. That part gets an F minus. Shame on them for excluding the contributions of the polls. Overall I would recommend visiting, and will go there again when I come back from...
Read moreIt was a nice experience and very informative. I learned alot of things about the lighthouse that I didn't know. They had mini replicas that show what the lighthouse looks like on the inside among other interesting historical items along with educational videos. The main reason I was there was because they did the showcase for the Genesis House called 'The Silent Witness' exhibit in which my mother is named on a plaque. Although the exhibit isn't at T.H.S at all times, (locations are in different spots every year) it was a lovely and very touching exhibit. I would recommend visiting T.H.S just to learn some Lorain roots. It's definitely something to go...
