Speak of the Devil — Restaurant in Lorain

Wow. Just wow! Speak of the Devil is outstanding. Easily one of the best places we have been to in a long time. Small cozy atmosphere. You're warmly greeted by one of the owners at the door. We sat at the bar. We were originally planning on just grabbing a cocktail and going elsewhere for dinner but the bartender Jack just draws you in. He is so friendly and knowledgeable. The cocktails are something you would expect to find at a pretentious cocktail bar downtown for $20 per. Not here, the prices were almost unreasonably low. The food was absolutely delicious and obviously prepared with care. They do high quality pizza and some really great apps. We ended up eating our entire dinner there and cancelling our reservations at the other place, I know that's rude but at least we called. At about 7 a band started to play. Not loud, some Sinatra era loveliness they was perfect. You could still have a conversation without yelling. The entire place is clean, including the bathrooms. When we complimented the staff to Jack his response was that they all love working there and its because of the owners. That is such a rare thing. They no longer have a full kitchen, which is unfortunate, as their food was really good. I miss the flatbreads and street tacos. But they do have snacks and charcuterie that are still amazing, as everything SOTD does typically is, and there are several food options nearby. The staff is top-notch, offering the service and best cocktails in the area, and by "area" I mean the whole state of Ohio. They frequently offer pop-up kitchens, live entertainment, and other worthwhile events, and they're always worth attending. There's always a mixed crowd of friendly patrons, and everyone is always enjoying themselves immensely. Whenever we're at a loss for something to do, we'll just head to SOTD, have a few creative artisan cocktails, and enjoy the vive. Truly a hidden gem that I almost hate to review in fear of making seat availability even more limited. But seriously, great place. If you've never been there, and enjoy the best in adult libations, you definitely need to check them out. This place is so fantastic! I never go anywhere else that greets every single person who walks in the door with such a genuine and friendly hello, be it their first time in or their fifty-first time in. The drinks are so thoughtful, fresh and the menu changes seasonally and there are so many unique, specially curated events here that just don't happen anywhere else in a fifty-mile radius. The first time I went I had probably the best cocktail I had ever had in my life. The awesome bartender was happy to share the recipe so I could make it myself at home if I wanted to.
