One of my favorite natural urban parks! Cheviot Hills Park Is a beautiful tree lined park on the backside of the golf course! As a large green space urban park, it’s valued as a central meeting place for school related sports competitions and for film and television scenes. I’ve stopped by here with tour groups for rest stops, as well as on my own for a quick hike around the perimeter! It also serves the leisure use of having a picnic at the tables. Many park goers opt to bring their own, setting out the lawn chairs or rolling out a blanket on the grass. Open areas are available on a first come, first serve basis, although users should also be mindful of organized activities that may conflict with a random placement. There’s a large recreation center, basketball courts and a large pool for summertime use. Tennis courts are at the south end of the south parking lot. There’s areas for field sports, baseball and cross country track meets. There’s even the Los Angeles Pétanque Club, located down the north entrance road by the Archery Range.
