Extra Space Storage — Attraction in Los Angeles

FINAL UPDATE

Closing this loop. The footage was never recovered - the district manager said they had deleted it due to a slow response from the LAPD - which didn't make any sense considering this was evidence for an active investigation. They ended up "allowing" me to move my things into a new unit within clear views of multiple cameras and honoring my original monthly rate. It's my understanding that the district manager I was dealing with is no longer with the company. Unclear if this will change how the operation is managed but let's hope so.

UPDATE Three Months later

The local property manager worked with the local police to identify the burglar, however I'm now being told that the storage folks lost the security footage. District Manager Frank Almarez hasn't returned my calls in two months. I'll update again once I've been told what happened to the footage.

We had our unit broken into sometime between 5/27 and 5/30. No forced entry and it appeared the lock was picked - there’s no cameras in the building where our unit is - only one outside pointed away from the entrance! Filed a police report immediately and asked the management team to turn over any security footage to us so we could see if more was missing than what we could immediately identify - Extra Space denied that request. I called their national office to escalate and was promised a call back but haven’t heard anything. Be extremely wary of this company. A+++! I researched all the storage facilities in the 90039 and surrounding areas, and this was by far and away the best one for many reasons.

4. It was a lot less expensive compared to the competition
5. The hours of accessibility Go and have a look yourself. If you care at all about appearance, and accessibility, and actually and genuinely liking the people you work with, this is a no brainer. The day I first went to do a walk-through, Liz was so incredibly helpful in showing me all around to the available units, not once but twice, so I could go back and measure and make sure I was selecting the best one for my needs. Liz is so incredibly nice and courteous while being professional and helpful to your every need. It was a pleasant surprise to see an outgoing customer who was moving to Oregon surprising Liz with a beautiful bouquet of flowers to thank her for her years of great service and also because it was her birthday. How sweet, I thought! There's no way the other places around have that kind of relationship with their customers. Liz truly cares about the customer and it shows. When I went back a few weeks later she remembered exactly who I was, and I got to meet Ken as well. Ken lives on-site and is the perfect man for the job as he's incredibly trustworthy and professional, while also being polite and helpful. You can do all the research I did, or just trust the reviews.. this place is truly the best...

I have had a unit at Extra Space Storage for two years and have to say first and foremost that I have had SUPERB service -- dealing with Kenneth (one of the onsite managers), starting from the day I called to schedule my move in to the unit, until the day I called to schedule my move out. Good -- as in competent, attentive, friendly and extremely helpful -- customer service is hard to come by and Kenneth gets an A+ in my book! Living 3,000 miles away from my belongings was stressful at times, and Kenneth really helped me out on multiple occasions. The facility on Casitas is clean, easy to navigate, and safe. (As a woman, this was an important feature to me.) It's great that there's someone onsite at all times too. My only irritation with Extra Space was the price bump up after a certain number of months of my contract...
