This with the greatest sadness to inform you all of these rose bushes have been destroyed by the new owners of this lot in Pacific Palisades. I am absolutely gutted. All of these rose bushes survived the Palisades Fire and somehow generated blooms without a spec of water for months.

The charred remains of previous buds were evident as new flowers started to bloom over the summer. I went everyday I could, bringing 10 gallons of purified water, and watered these roses. I trimmed them, cleaned around them, and sprayed them with Neem Oil. I figured any living organism that fought that hard to survive deserved some kind of attention.

I don’t live here. I live in the Central Valley . I come down to Pacific Palisades to house sit for a friend every couple of months. Imagine my surprise when I drove up to the place and saw equipment clearing the land. I had emailed the real estate agent, with the listing for this property, before I left last month, requesting that someone could continue to take care of these roses. The agent never acknowledged my email. Therefore, I was not totally surprised this happened. I am just so saddened she couldn’t have reached out and let me at least try to salvage these plants.

It is truly disappointing to see such blatant disrespect for plant life that tried so very hard to survive when literally everything around it burned...

Commercial areas nearby are way busy and parking is dear so daily life may be more than some folks bargained for when they leased that bungalow for...
