Well stocked shop, amazing selection (at the moment quite possibly greatest in LA) & great location with plenty of parking. However, the behavior displayed along with sheer greed has me fuming still.
I was told that 45s with prices were as marked and those without prices would have to be tallied. After 5 hours of digging through the filthy, unorganized massive selection of singles, I handed then the unpriced ones. After waiting 20 minutes I handed the priced ones. After another 20 minutes I walked to the counter where both employees were hurriedly rushing through Discogs searches while shooting a look of disgust towards me while I asked what was taking so long, we all know why it was taking so long.
After another 20 minutes, I was told by the now single employee it was $200 which I happily paid. After receiving the disc's back, I noticed the one on top had been switched out for a Cracked copy! There was also 40 disc's that were missing!!! After inquiring what was going on, I was told that the other employee knew where they were. I asked where he was and was told he didn't know where he went? I promptly asked for my money back immediately and voiced my displeasure at what had transpired. The aloofness and timid demeanor displayed by the employee was telling of maybe he felt really bad for what had transpired.
If you're looking for LPs go here!!! If you're a 45 digger do not patronize this store. All of your hard work digging and your knowledge of what to purchase will be used against you. The employees are seemingly unwilling to organize the 45s and even if they are already priced (which according to them is the price you'll pay!!!) their avarice and motivations of greed nullify any price that is present. Deceitfulness & Lies abound for those with a...
Read moreI visited this store for the first time, and while it's not bad, my overall experience was subpar compared to other record shops. I found a couple of records that weren't priced, labeled, or categorized anywhere. They were haphazardly placed without protective sleeves and were in pretty rough condition. Initially, I thought they might be great finds that wouldn't break the bank.
However, it seems like the store employs a gimmick of scanning records and charging customers based on online prices. This is an example of how technology can be counterproductive for customers. When I brought the records to the cashier, the prices given didn’t reflect their condition. I expected to find a bargain, but since they hadn't properly marked the records, I ended up with arbitrary prices that ultimately disappointed me as a customer hoping to discover something special.
Once I took the record home and played it, I was overwhelmed by the pops and crackles. The cover was torn, the record skipped several times, and I soon realized it was severely scratched. I would much rather pay full price for a new record than settle for a used one that's in such poor condition and doesn't play well.
Customers should be able to enjoy their shopping experience without being subjected to price gouging. It's frustrating to be penalized for not inspecting the records beforehand when the store hasn't priced them accurately. And based on the reviews, it seems I’m not the only one who’s experienced this. I won’t be returning here, as there are plenty of other record stores in LA that don’t engage in this...
Read moreNot a great store for record lovers, more for the buyer who just wants to buy records and isn’t concerned about condition or price. The owner is a super nice guy but he’s not a record/music nerd, he heard a few years back that records were valuable again and he got into it. Because of that the shop looks the part but the vibe isn’t there.
Huge selection haphazardly crammed in the bins. Average condition is VG- but everything is priced mint; I’ve never bought records here on 6-8 visits and despite the fact the owner has been in my own home multiple times buying albums. The quality just isn’t there and the staff really has no idea what they’re doing. Young guys who look the part but don’t know anything about records. I’ve seen dudes come in with heat to sell and the staff don’t even know what they’re looking at, they just throw out the standard lowball offer and then get laughed at. No one here knows what they are doing, sadly, because they want so badly to be a legit record store but it just feels like they’re playing dress-up.
If you love records, go to High Fidelity on Adams Very very well curated, condition is great, vibe is chill, and prices are insanely low considering the...
