For years, I always passed by this place and I finally thought I should check it out. My friend and I went, and the interior is beautiful, I wish I could’ve sat down to take it all in. We both got matcha with oat milk, but were charged $28 for the grand total. I didn’t see the amount until I was writing my signature on the screen and that was when my friend and I both brought the price to the cashiers attention. She seemed new, and said that maybe the price of the drinks had changed or something, but the price on the menu clearly said it was $6.25 plus $1 for alternative milks; I definitely don’t think tax should be that high. It took 4 people over 15 minutes to finally give me my money back (not even all of it, they gave me back $13ish so the correct amount would’ve been paid). The cashier and this guy who I thought was the manager were trying to tell us that it’s $28 because of taxes but we just kept saying that that makes absolutely no sense, no single latte is worth $14. On top of the gaslighting, no one in the establishment seemed to know how to give returns on the tablet because it’s a “food place” but I’ve worked in food and know there should be a function for that. The manager seemed to have JUST stepped out. I kept suggesting a cash return, and no one listened, but then finally these two nice guys who immediately understood that the cafe was in the wrong pulled out a cash box and gave me my $14 back, but at that point with good customer service you’d assume you’d get all of your money back, but I didn’t want to push more, we just wanted to get out of there at that point.
The latte wasn’t worth all of that trouble anyways and was ok, the two stars are for the beauty of the inside, and the two nice guys that validated that we were in the right....
Read moreI would not recommend this place. During my time there, I was spoken to in a nasty tone by the cashier. All because I asked if an item could be made vegan. She used the fact that she couldn’t understand me as an excuse to be rude and patronising. She laughed at me before abruptly saying “we don’t do substitutions”.
I had the same experience when the “barista” borderline shouted at me when my drink was ready. When I asked for a straw, she said they don’t do that, before quickly turning her back on me. The food was just as cold as the people working there. When I emailed the owner about my experience and asked for a refund, they apologised then immediately made excuses for their behaviour. Their exact words were:
“We are always trying to provide the best experience but sometimes mistakes and misunderstandings happen. I personally feel that during the Covid time we all lost some of our social skills”
They asked for my full credit card number via email (who does that?). Of course I never heard from them again when I said I wasn’t comfortable with that, despite offering a safer way to pay me back.
The owner’s lack of empathy and attention to detail clearly trickles down to the staff. They felt emboldened to take out the disdains for their job on me, because they know there won’t be consequences. When the owner can’t even keep their word, it’s no surprise that their team lacks integrity. Even my friend couldn’t help but point out the poor treatment. I should’ve walked out the moment it started. I’m embarrassed to have gone there with company, and will not be...
Read moreThe coffee is on my go-to list since it's close to where I live.
I like the vibes and decorations, and you see more people who are in entertainment, producer, and writers at the coffee shop.
However, customer service was terrible, 4/10. The staff (video) who brought the food out was insulting and gave clients a look, and slammed the dish on the table. I asked where I could get the sauce, and she did not even want to turn around; she did not answer and pointed at the other area with a nasty attitude. LOL, this is the first time I encountered this lousy service at the coffee shop in L.A.
I came here in a great mood as a first-timer and was shocked to be treated that way. I thought she only did that to me, but she snapped at other clients too. Management, you need to train your staff in customer service, please. People would appreciate the friendly and kind attitude in this busy city.
Do not show up if you can't bring your best selves to work. It's a coffee shop where people come to enjoy their work and day—lousy impression.
If the foods and coffee are excellent, I can consider returning to make it up for the services. But, unfortunately, it did not deliver the...
