My daughter has been attending Streamliners since August 1, 2024. She started with the Splashers level in September 2023, and during that time, she had four incredible instructors who inspired her with courage and enthusiasm to pursue swimming. Unfortunately, one of these instructors left the academy, and the other three had no lessons available for the next levels. Given the trust and confidence we had built with SwimRight, we were open to transitioning to a new instructor and chose Symieon.
From the start, my daughter, who is usually adaptable to new situations, expressed concerns about Symieon’s teaching methods and communication style. Initially, we dismissed her complaints, which we now deeply regret. Over time, it became evident that her concerns were valid. Symieon lacked preparation and consistency. He never referred to her progress book and repeatedly reviewed skills she had already mastered and received completion stickers for, instead of building on her progress. There was no structured plan or continuity between lessons to ensure proficiency before moving on to new skills.
When I addressed these issues directly with him, his response was to suggest private lessons instead of addressing the inefficiencies within the group classes. Trusting his advice, I enrolled my daughter in two private lessons to focus on the remaining skills. Disappointingly, a significant portion of those sessions was spent reviewing skills she had already mastered. When I raised my concerns, I was met with a dismissive and sarcastic attitude, with him stating, "This is my teaching style."
Carlos, the head instructor, intervened but offered no meaningful resolution. Instead, he simply suggested switching instructors without investigating or addressing the root cause of the issues. When I proposed that he implement daily progress reports from instructors to monitor training paths and identify problems early, he dismissed the idea as unmanageable due to the number of students. This response felt both unreasonable and unprofessional.
When I reached out to the front desk for support, they offered courtesy tokens to address the unfinished skills. While appreciated, this solution had significant limitations and failed to resolve the systemic issues we faced.
This experience has been profoundly frustrating and disappointing. What began as a promising start to my daughter’s swimming journey has turned into an uphill battle against poor management and lack of accountability. I hope this feedback prompts the academy to take meaningful action to improve their processes and prioritize the educational experience of...
Read moreI am feeling less and less about choosing this place. And was hoping the negative reviews were isolated instances but from my experience so far it seems the opposite. When we scheduled the trial there were no good times available so we ended up with Saturday at 8 am. We were cancelled on twice!!! Signed up for group lessons and that was a disaster because in a 30 minute class the child only swims for 6 minutes!!! And ends 5 minutes early. No one explained this when we were asking details about the differences. So we decided to do private instead. There were not a lot of time slots available. When called to switch the lady made it so difficult to switch because of some silly technicalities because of differences in time schedules and when the new slot was going to become available. After switching we had one class as a make up. This instructor starts out with I don’t think he is in the right level was he tested by us did he do a trial? No consistency. Today he was finally scheduled with the instructor who he would be with on a regular basis and she tells me that they need to test another instructor and that my son will be with him. This instructor has a completely different style and I am not paying for private lessons for your testing needs. That needs to done at another time. And each private instructor was 2-3 minutes late for a 20 minute lesson. And the inconsistency is just absurd. I have already invested almost a month and money and I keep hoping it will get better but I am not keeping...
Read moreEmma started SwimRight Academy (Westside location) around November 2021 and she had just turned 3 years old. She took private lessons twice per week which progressed to one group lesson and one private lesson per week. She started at the beginner level. Now, she has almost completed Streamliners (Level 6). The key is to find the right instructor for your child. We have been fortunate to have had 3 wonderful instructors (2 of them left due to school/work and the 3rd has been absolutely amazing with Emma).
The app and website is easy to use. There is a front desk at the center should you need any assistance. They are also available by phone and text message. Therefore communication and scheduling is very easy.
The center itself is clean, spacious, and there is parking available. The staff, instructors, students, and parents are all friendly. There are large window shutters that open and close by the pool area which means kids can swim all year round.
Emma has always been a water baby but SwimRight made her into a confident swimmer. As a parent, I no longer worry about her at pool parties (even the ocean). More often than not, she is the best swimmer for her age whenever we go to the pool or the beach.
Because of the SwimRight Method, Emma is not only a confident swimmer, but she also learns technic and...
