I honestly don't know how this place even has one star except for that its mandatory to put it. Biggest reason for my rating:
Usually I am not one to write reviews unless they are for amazing places that I'd like people to know about. This is the complete opposite. I highly recommend checking out other budget-friendly options before coming here.
First off, its not even a cheap option. There have been multiple accounts in these reviews of people paying a $250 deposit and never getting reimbursed. I sadly am one of those people too. I am typically fair minded when it comes to negotiating on price, so I was not afraid of the deposit because I assumed I would get it back. Still not the case. There's definitely not much to trust with practices like this.
Second, the room and service was horrible. I don't want to post pictures for fear of them knowing who wrote this review. (They have all of my information so I'd rather be safe than sorry.) Bedsheets, towels, floors - all dirty. I called to get replacements - never got an answer.
Third, there's just a bad vibe / energy / air about the place. I stayed for 2 nights and either saw or heard things I was not comfortable with. I am by no means a prude or easily scared. Plus its LA, so obviously things like weed and alcohol are a given. But it was more than that. Multiple times throughout the day and night. People yelling racist stuff, cars honking outside for tenants to meet them, verbal arguments (one almost got physical)...among other lowkey things that I was not 100% aware of -- it just felt off.
Plus I think the local police know that weird things have been going on here, so I saw them often making rounds in their cars. Some people may feel safer because of that...I did not. I'm sure most tenants thought it was bad. This is probably the biggest reason why I would suggest not going for most people. It doesn't feel like a safe environment, so now I want to change all the info this "hotel" has on me.
Lesson learned for me. Hope this...
Read moreOur stay at the Beverly Merlot was rather strange. We couldn’t actually find the hotel at first because there is no sign anywhere on the building. Check in was between 6pm and 9pm which makes it very difficult for people who arrive early (fortunately we had a car so were able to leave our things in there while we explored the city). The listing on booking.com stated there was parking but again the location of the car park was unclear. We ended up parking on the street free of charge anyway. When we finally managed to check in, the “receptionist” (not sure of his role) informed us of the $250 (!!!) deposit which was not on booking.com. We reluctantly paid and he said it would be refunded when we check out. This was actually refunded almost 6 weeks later. He then used his iPhone to take a picture of the credit card, our ID and our faces!! I asked why he needed this and he just said for security. Strange. Once checked in, he took us up and into our room, again not used to this in a hotel. No tv as promised but we didn’t mind. The room had an adjoining room with a missing door, covered by a divider. He said “not to worry” about it. I had a peek over and it looked as though someone was living in there (mattress on the floor, empty bottles etc). I felt extremely uncomfortable and unsafe. We only stayed 2 nights and if we were able to get a refund we wouldn’t have stayed at all. My advice would be spend a little more money and get a real hotel that is safe and as promised. Some positives - good location, comfy bed, hot powerful...
Read moreWhen we came there, the door was closed and one guy who was under drug influence and who doesn't even work there opened a door for us. He told us to leave suitcases behind the reception desk and come back in 2 hours and he also asked us to buy him beer because he opened a door for us. When we came back receptionist wanted to take $250 deposit from my debit card, but he did something wrong and bank blocked my card so I had to call the bank and talked with them for 30 minutes until he told me he can take cash as well.||The room was dirty and there was no TV even though on Booking.com it says that every room has a TV, luckily we didn't spend a lot of time in the room. ||At the end, I couldn't believe what happened. On Booking.com is written that check out is from 7am until 10am. I told the receptionist that I will check out at 8am and he told me that there is a small problem because he is at the gym from 7am and the other receptionist will be at the motel around 10am. Is it really normal to say to the guest that he can't check out in 8am because you are going to gym?? At the end we agreed that I will check out in 6:30, but he was also late, he came at 6:45. And after everything that happened to me in those 3 days he asked me to give them a good review. ||||Please, don't stay in this motel,...
