I went to Winter Jam at Freedom Hall two weeks ago, and while walking down the steps in the dark with no railing, I fell and sprained my ankle. While in pain waiting for a wheelchair, I tried to sit in the corner of the entrance stairs because there were no open seats nearby. The security said, "Can't sit there! State Law". So I asked if I could stand, and they said, "No, state Law!" I couldn't because they had to keep the entrance clear...While they stood in the entrance. They said there were seats I'm the hallway, but there weren't any within line of sight of the entrance.
When I finally got wheeled to the clinic, and the woman felt around my ankle, they told me all they could do was give me ice, and ibuprofen for a dollar.
I mentioned how it was dark with no railing, and she said, "Yeah, it's an old venue". I honestly don't think that's at all an excuse. Why can't they invest in hand railings? What would have been the response if I fell from the top and had to be hospitalized or worse?
Honestly, it all felt very dehumanizing. I get that there are laws, but are they more important than helping someone who is injured? I'm STILL healing from this. I still can't do many things because of...
Read moreWe attended the Monster Jam show in January, and this was our first time ever visiting. We bought our over priced tickets online, which also charged a service fee PER ticket which was a ridiculous amount! Needles to say this little short entertainment turned out to be VERY expensive. We have been to other monster truck shows before in Texas and you don't pay near as much as they do here! You don't even pay for parking, which should also be included in your ticket purchase. And to top it off, they have four lanes and only two lanes where open to come in, which created long lines, and it caused us to miss almost 30 minutes of the show. You pay all that money, and they can't open all the lanes to get people in there quicker! The seats were SO small, I was elbowing my neighbor and was very uncomfortable throughout the rest of the show, it's like you couldn't breath! I was relieved when the show was over because the seating was so close together. Our seats were even taken, we had to find another place to sit! We won't be coming back for...
Read moreThe staff and the arena itself were great. Restrooms were clean. Good amount of food vendors. I'm not sure if this was an issue with Freedom Hall or the artist. We attended the Mid-America Truck Show this past weekend and saw Michael Ray and Runaway June perform. Unfortunately, the music was EXTREMELY loud. You couldn't understand the words the artists were singing. The band was too loud. And, in between artists they played thumping bass music instead of country. I'm mid-40's so I'm not one of those older people who hate loud music. But when I go to a concert I expect to hear the artist and enjoy the show. I held my ears through most of it and left half way through Michael Ray's set. It was terrible! One of the staff asked me why I was leaving and I told her. She admitted that other people had told her the same thing. Whether the sound board was ran by Freedom Hall or someone from the artist's staff I have no idea. Regardless, it was a...
