This is a great venue if it wasn't in a flood zone. We waited all year to attend a festival there and with the rainfall, the park turned into a 6"-10" mucky, muddy mess in most places and over a foot of water near the stage. We had to throw our clothes and shoes away. Ultimately, the festival was cancelled. There were thousands that flocked to Champions Park, millions of dollars invested, and high-level artists that were turned away. This is extremely unfortunate.
This area needs to be developed further, and/or graded so that water is deflected away from here. Additional drainage would likely be necessary. However, with the number of festivals and activities that are planned for this location, funding should be no problem. We really wish to return, but, if something isn't done about the water issue, our return...
Read moreAttended the Bourbon and Beyond 2nd annual festival. Had ultimate VIP but rained all day and grounds became a muddy quagmire with event crews not ready for the mess...needed hay bales or mulch to spread to make less hazardous. My leather shoes were sucked off my feet (had to walk a mile in muck in my stocking feet) were ruined when I attempted to catch my girlfriend from falling in the mess. She ruined a $500.00 designer purse, new jeans and a pair of white $100.00 designer shoes. Artists and food plus drink were good...event planning subpar. City of Louisville had to cancel day 2 due to absolutely inhabitable conditions at the Champions Park. Next time B&B needs to accommodate for rain in a Ohio River flood plain with either raised walking plates or the aforementioned straw...
Read moreShort of a strange place to have concert. Parking, Ingress and egress are not very good. But there is a lot of room to spread out. Thankfully we were there when the Sun was shining. I would hate to have to fight the mud if I paid a bunch of money for concert tickets and had to stand out there in the rain. The food trucks were not really very interesting at The Bourbon & Beyond Festival in 2017. The beers were also pretty pedestrian but there was a great bourbon selection. The only problem was the lines were very long for everything. It was great they partnered with the Food Network to get Food Network celebrities in local chef to do lectures and demonstrations. However most of the patrons were not interested in that. I found it...
