Mellwood Tavern — Restaurant in Louisville

This is a very nice neighborhood bar & grill. There was an open mic night for comedians the night I was there. They have the open mic every Monday. Life is too short to spend it not laughing. Come out on Mondays & have a big laugh. I believe on other nights they have bands but I'm not sure which nights. This is a clean & friendly bar. Everyone there was really nice & welcoming to newcomers. Feel free to stop by any night of the week & relax and have a great time. If you are a funny person or if your friends dare you to try stand up, go up & give it a shot. Even if you just want to mark it off your bucket list. BEST BAR IN TOWN! Staff is awesome and makes you feel like a friend in their home. Plenty of cool things going on here from Larryoke on Thursdays, open Mic comedy night on Monday, and our favorote The Early Service on Sunday afternoons in which the whole family can come. The Early service is an outdoor concert with no admission charge. Mellwood has live music all weekend never with any admiasion charges. You've gotta try this place for the Fried chicken. I would say its the best in the city, but I do believe it's the best in the state of Kentucky by far.! They only have a certain amount of chicken that they can cook per day so get there early if you want to reserve your spot and even if it takes a while, it's well worth the wait! They do the chicken on Tuesday and Thursdays only so it's always fresh cooked to order . It's a great place to come and get a few drinks while you're waiting on your chicken and believe me you'll be glad you did....
