While an awesome ride, Superman Ultimate Flight isn't infallable. For one, the queue is completely uncovered, and being the biggest coaster in the back of the park, lines can get long. Being under the brutal Georgia sun can definitely make you more cranky about a slow moving line. And oftentimes it is, as the complicated mechanism of the flying trains and general laziness of staff makes loading times long and worsens the line problem. In addition, long loading times means that you'll be hanging there on the brake run after the ride is over, staring at gum covered steel until the slow ride operators decide it's time to dispatch. This could be alleviated if they actually used both sides of the station, but they do not.
For the coaster itself it's an excellent experience. Being on a hillside, this version of Superman is a rare terrain layout flying coaster, meaning you'll be swooping close to the ground, and even go through a small tunnel. The g forces on the turns are strong, but not overwhelming, and there's a barrel roll at the end. The best part is the incredibly intense pretzel loop at the beginning. Getting laying down airtime at the beginning, followed by a nosedive for a dropping feeling, huge positive Gs on your back as you invert, and a straight up ascent followed by more lying down airtime as you level out. The red paint is also fresh and beautiful, and you might even hear Superman's theme in the area. If the line isn't long, don't miss out...
Read moreOkay so I haven't specifically ridden this model of the Superman flying coasters. However I have ridden the one at Six Flags Great Adventure which is a clone of this. It is in every way identical. Seeing how I couldn't find the one in New Jersey to review, I'm gonna have to stick to this. Anyways Superman: Ultimate Flight is the only flying coaster I have ever ridden. This is apparently the weakest of the flying coasters but that doesn't make it bad. It still is a pretty enjoyable experience. The best part about the ride is of course the pretzel loop. That really was the most intense point of the ride, and also really the only intense part. The coaster is pretty force-less other than that maneuver, but I don't think it was meant to be. It is simply there to give you a graceful sensation of flying and it achieves that. The last inline twist was pretty cool and even the overbanks are fun. This is a cool, nice and fun coaster. If you want to fly like Superman...
Read moreSuperman: Ultimate Flight is one of my all time favorite roller coasters. The flying mechanic is awesome. It does a lot to make it feel like you're actually Superman. The pretzel loop on this ride is intense. It packs some incredible G-forces and does not hold back. This was an incredible ride experience. But, there are some setbacks. For starters, there is zero theming. The queue has some signs with various Superman heroes and villains, which is kind of cool but not real theming. The operations on this ride also suck. They can run two trains, but they weren't when I was there and I had to wait a very long time. This ride does require some extra safety precautions because of the flying feature, but surely they can do it faster. Overall, this is an incredible ride with horrid operations.
Intensity Rating: 8/10 Overall...
