I would give it 0 star if I could. We had a ride from HELL yesterday! I took my 7-year-old son to the park and we picked "The Great Americans Screen Machine" to be his first rollercoaster to try. It doesn't have the crazy twist and turns so it looked relatively safe.
After the first dip, I instantly regretted it. The ride was so rough and bumpy. It knocked us around so much that our head, shoulder and neck were throwing around extremely bad in all directions We were both in tears when it was over. I've never had a rollercoaster experience that it hurt you so bad that you felt like you just experienced a car accident. I'm still hurting the second day.
The rollercoaster needs to be SHUT DOWN IMMEDIATELY!
My son got his lips busted and his stomach hurt so bad from the protections. I had an instant headache probably from a concussion. The fellow riders were expressing the same thing. When I came home reading the reviews, so many people were experiencing the same thing!
I'm shocked they still let it run and hurt more people!. It's a 1972 wooden ride with no proper maintenance!!!! I'm so upset that I put myself and my young child in this situation! If you're a parent, PLEASE DON"T PUT YOUR CHILD THROUGH this...
Read moreI normally try to find anything positive to say about a roller coaster, but with this one I struggle to find the words. “It’s paced well, I guess?” Other than that slight benefit, the “Great” American Scream Machine is a rough, very painful, very jerky, and unrewarding ride. This coaster is awful, frankly... I had heard some people praising it for its airtime, which I felt absolutely none of— even when sitting near the back of the train.
Perhaps hilariously, this coaster’s neighbor (Blue Hawk, formerly known as Ninja) used to be my least favorite roller coaster before it was upgraded to its current state. Ninja used to also be an extremely painful, violent and rough ride, like Great American Scream Machine is now. But its transformation into Blue Hawk resulted in track reprofiling, new comfortable trains and a new theme.
Overall, this coaster does NOT warrant your time at Six Flags Over Georgia. Just go ride the other great coasters they have here, like Goliath, Twisted Cyclone and...

I have ridden lots of coasters, including some that were considered to be among the roughest ones on the planet, and TGASM is BY FAR the worst I've ever encountered. It made riding the notorious, pre-renovated Texas Giant in Arlington seem like floating on a cloud. To date, TGASM is the only coaster in 50 years of riding them that actually beat me bloody. It felt exactly like being strapped in a wooden box that is connected to the shaft of a giant jackhammer. I will NEVER risk riding it again. Besides the bloody knee, it ended my visit to the park at 1:00 and my neck and back hurt for a couple of months.
Look, you've only got one neck and one spine to last the rest of your life. Do them both a favor and stay off of this coaster when visiting Six Flags...
