It has enough benches in a section of the park for the disabled but they need benches on the sidewalk to the bathroom badly. Plus benches on the sidewalks going to the sides. They need a water faucet too here. I guess they don't believe in free water anymore anywhere. They also don't have the handicapped parking spot marked legally 27 feet for one spot. The parking spot on the side closest to the entrance isn't marked with a handicapped Logo so they are not legally marking the handicapped parking spaces correctly here. There are no benches on the handicapped parking side of tatnall square Park so the disabled have to cross a dangerous road way to get to the entrance that does have benches. Whoever designed the park should have to pay to fix the problem. The handicapped women's bathroom door won't lock at all. Addendum the handicapped parking spot measures 5 feet by 11 feet by 5 feet = 21 feet. The CORRECT measurements should be 8 feet by 11 feet by 8 feet for 1 (one) lone parking space. Two parking spaces is 11 feet for van assessible with 5 feet assess aisle with 8 feet for car assessible space. So they are only LEGALLY marked as 2 adjacent handicapped parking spots. But they only have one labeled as...
Read moreThis park and its historical significance to me goes back to 1978 when my father moved me and my 2 brothers here from South Carolina. I found it to be a lively, community connected and pleasant place to go as a kid. Many Easter Egg hunts were sponsored and held there by local radio stations(WIBB,WDDO)primarily. It's big enough for outdoor concerts or field games of all types(no baseball or sports of this type). There are long winding well shaded sidewalks with large trees with which a picnic or a afternoon nap can be enjoyed. There are or is a commons area with picnic tables and a grill you can barbecue with or bring your own. There are also many tennis courts and handball or racquetball courts to enjoy and a sports building as well. Recently a huge palatial fountain has been added and a nature stream with a bridge. It's a great spot to stroll ir use as a backdrop for photo ops and such. The park also has lots of parking within and around its perimeter for easy access and vendors are welcome year round. All things being said it's a great historical...
Read moreA lovely place to spend with family, friends or alone, to play, to exercise or to just relax. There are plenty of great backdrops for your photoshoots or selfies. There is a playground with age appropriate areas for big & little kids.
There's plenty of room to run around. If shade is what you need, there are a ton of tree-shaded areas and a gazebo. Need to take a load off for people watching? Try the beautiful fountain by the Tennis Center or relax on one of the many benches located around the park.
On-site bathrooms for men & women. (BYOTST bring your own tissue, soap & towels -- just in case! IJS...🐸☕.) A drinking fountain is there, but bring your own. Dog walking is allowed, but you must pick up after it.
I saw a young couple watching their two boys climb a tree... So sweet! Couples go to talk while they hold hands on a leisurely stroll. Groups rent the gazebo for parties, picnics, BBQ's, and more. The possibilities are endless and whatever...
