This park is absolutely beautiful with lake front views with a nice breeze during the summer. There’s a park for kids to play, wide green space perfect for playing catch with Todo or play “Tag” with the kiddos. It’s a safe park with lots of families and carefully maintained. During the Summer you might even find an event to check out set up throughout the park. There’s a small Parking Lot a long walk off from the beach front & play area. Free on street parking can be difficult to find during the day on the one way & parking has a time limit which the local authorities HEAVILY enforce! I see Madison police patrol nearby by this park often. A local ice cream and Mexican truck usually park on nearby streets on the weekends. There’s also a corner store convenience store 1 block away with lots of deli...

Great park, perfect place to watch the sunset. I do wish that there was a fenced in area/dog park. I live in condos with no fenced in area nearby and walk my dog here alot. I wish I could just let her run around without a leash in a safe fenced in area and socialize with other dogs. If you guys had one I would probably go 3x times a day and the amount of people I see walking dogs at James Madison would appreciate it too. All the dog parks in Madison are too far to walk and we have to pay for parking every time we go. You guys have the room for it so please please please add this my dog would be...

Beautiful park right on the shore of Lake Mendota. The park has a small play area for children, and a small trail running alongside the lake, which is wheelchair/stroller accessible. The park offers stunning views of the sunset, and is ideal for a quick picnic. Do carry your own picnic mat/chair, as the park has limited options for seating. Limited parking for park users, although free roadside parking is available too. The park is a short five minute walk from the Wisconsin State Capitol building, and ten minutes from Lake Monona.
