So it appears they get stuff from other garden centers that the centers can not sell anymore. Then, they sell those plants at full price. Some of the plants appear to be rejects from Woodmans.
The place looks very impressive from far away but once one starts examining the plants the plants are expensive for what they are, and they are very unhealthy.
It would be cool at a discount but the prices are almost offensive.
They however, have well taken care of animals. To look at Owner if you are reading this pivot your business ditch the plants and open an indoor zoo type of attraction. Charge admission or even a monthly membership. You would clean up $$$.
Strongly recommend against buying any plants from this place. They do not sell anything special. Go to the other green houses in the area and buy a healthy plant for the same price.
Edit: In response to the owner's comments I have a couple of questions.
I took a picture of the "B plant section" but just the section. Not the plants up close. I thought the section looked nice. All the other plant pictures came from regular sections.
If the distributor thing is true does that mean you were going to send numerous unhealthy plants to Woodmans? Do you send unhealthy plants to other stores also?
Why was I quoted $99 for that plant is such poor condition? In the "A plant section" the going price for those plants is about $25 or less. Healthy.
$34.99 for Colocasia Mojotos is not a discount price anyways. None of the plants pictures were any cheaper than any retailer sells them for. They are actually more. I have been to most of the garden centers in the midwest so I know how much the...
Great concept, but wish many of the plants were healthier. They supply many other plant selling businesses, and their prices seem about the same as at Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc. I also wish they had more variety. For example, their tropical hibiscus small trees were all red blooming and a bit spare in foliage and tatty looking. Interesting, though, I felt that the bigger the plant in the store, it was healthier too. Maybe because they are worth more, they seemed well maintained. And they really have some huge plants…palms, ficus, dieffenbachias. One mistake they’ve made is putting a section of b grade plants, as they call them, very near the front of the store. These are poor condition plants of various sizes….and would be much better at the back of the store. Shoppers are trained that big sales/damaged merch is usually at the back of the store. The other part of their concept is being a party store….I.e., kids coming in to paint a pot and get a free plant. I could hear but not see such a group. Again, conceptually a great idea, but how is it executed?
I hope the Jungle will thrive. I’d love to walk in there and see better condition plants at better prices. And I like to see a wider choice of more unusual...
Read moreAbsolutely amazing location. I love plants and they have about a million to choose from. Literally feels like a jungle inside!
I did not know there were birds here. They are not for sale but .... They do!! Turtles...and fish. Pools and pool tables... Air hockey too. Patio furniture and rec room accessories.
I will never forget my encounter with a cockatiel named Terry or Jerry... He's an escape artist apparently and he picked me out as I walked below him. He actually landed on top of my head. My daughter led me to the bird area when one of the workers said his name and then without even a thanks another woman coldly said I will take him and took him back. He was swiftly taken back into the cage and released. I'm bald and when he landed on me from the rafters above the lights he drew blood with his feet.
I love birds... I can handle a little scratching from a cockatiel I wish the bird lady would have handled me better. I found a bird of yours on my head and brought him back to you... First time customer first time bird catcher.
Purchased some beautiful plants as well. The...
