This rating is strictly for the three doctors I named below . So I wanna start off by saying I am not from Missouri I came from California and I had set up a plan with my primary doctor there but obviously she could not continue to help me. I started going to Saint Claireâs because I have a family member who goes to them and she said thatâs where she gets the best care, I have tried to go to SLU & DePaul but they are way worse as far as friendliness goes. I have three doctors who have been giving me quite a few issues there : the first one and the main ring Leader in all of this is Kristen Goulden , she was nice, personable and then she put on my chart that I was drug seeking after I had several injuries which caused me immense pain And she couldnât see it on paper, so then she started saying that I was seeking drugs which was far from the truth, Every time I see her in the ER she already has her mind made up whatever Iâm in there for she makes sure to let me know that itâs not bad enough for pain medicine TO HER !! Then we have Korean Schram: she is very condescending she talks over me every time I try to explain whatâs going on she cuts me off the last interaction we had I asked her to get me another provider because she was dismissing me so badly & not listening To what I was saying she was just like right.. right .. Lastly we have Brittney M peterein : now sheâs nice But she is also has a bad habit of putting I am drug seeking when Iâm obviously in immense pain. I recently sprung my ankle and itâs been getting worse with the pain going up to my butt cheek i went to er this morning, I explained this to her she said call ortho the same thing she said last week. I explained to her I called them They said that it would be quite some time before I can get in in the meantime Iâm still in pain things are getting worse and I also have Nerve conditions including sciatica which is extremely painful. I cannot take NSAIDS she knows this, itâs on my chart, they all know this. She came in looked at my ankle and said to call ortho then she began telling me that she is not gonna prescribe me narcotics WHICH I NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT . I said thatâs fine Iâm miserable I just want this to be over ,she just said take a muscle relaxer and they will muscle relax and steroid you to death !! After my appointment I always check the appointment summary & to my surprise she put on there that I was asking for narcotics which is Not true I said nothing about narcotics this visit, she also said that I was being reluctant which I also donât understand because I wasnât rude I simply answered her questions so I was very confused about that statement As well. I said all this to say I hate to bring race into it but as a black woman this is not the first time Iâve experienced this itâs unfortunate but this has happened to me maaannyyy times before in the long run as I kept going in for the problem they would eventually find out whatâs going on because I had to keep fighting for MY HEALTH !! it would always turn out that it was something that was extremely painful and I wasnât making it up!!! I am just one of many black women with the same or worst horror stories About doctors who will dismiss you because they think you are trying to get pain medicine. But I do want them to understand one thing if I was trying To just get pain medicine why in the world when I go to the same emergency room each time? If I was strictly there to get pain medicine wouldnât I go to different ERâs? I wish that doctors would take their feelings out of things theyâre not there to say what you do and donât feel because itâs Not showing up on an x-ray!!! Theyâve put these notes in my chart and as a repercussion of this primary doctors will dismiss me they will also deny me Pain medicine because of these notes. I have have family members who have died because they didnât wanna go to the doctor simply because of these reasons imagine youâre trying to get Treatment and be vigilant about your health and The doctor turned it into you trying to get...
Read moreI was there last year. Even though some of the employees were nice I was shocked with the treatment I was given. I am from Europe, my father was a surgeon, my mother is an anesthesiologist, my brother a surgeon, and my sister is a gynecologist. So, I know quite a lot about hospitals and doctors and how they should be treating patients. Unfortunately, doctors in America ( at least in this hospital and St Mary), especially surgeons do not really deal with their patients except before and during the surgery. After a major surgery I was surrounded only by nurses who lacked knowledge about my condition. They were asking me whether I wanted some medications - in the end I told them that they should ask a doctor not me whether I need medications; I am a lawyer and have no idea which medication I should be given after the surgery. One night I had a terrible pain, I recorded all that, for 6 hours I was begging them to call the doctor, but they did not. The only person who came to see me was a nurse to tell me that I wasn't allowed to make videos in the hospital. I was released 6 days after the surgery. The surgeon came to see me, did not check my wound, my stomach, nothing, just told me that I was ok and free to go home. But since they did not check my stomach they did not know that I was in ileus (my intestines were inactive). I went home and had to call 911 the same night. This time I was hospitalized in St. Mary's Hospital. I was waiting for two hours by myself in the waiting room until I started vomiting. The ER doctor did CT and told me that I have another intussusception. I was translating to my brother over the phone what the doctor said, and he was freaking out because he told me that the surgeon did a bad job and that I would need another surgery. The doctor explained the procedure wrongly, my neighbor was next to me ( a native English speaker who testified what the ER doctor told me). They did nasogastric intubation and he (ER doctor) said that they would pump air into my stomach to see if that could help, my brother yelled over the phone and said that blowing air into my stomach could be fatal after a surgery. But everything that the ER doctor had told me was wrong, I learned that only the next morning from other doctors. They explained what happened, and told me that I probably hadn't understood the ER doctor properly. When my neighbor told them what the ER doctor said they remained silent and sad that that was probably miscommunication. I was released 5 days after, I still have some issues but have no strength to call that hospital and obtain my medical records. I still cannot believe that they let me go without even touching my stomach, or checking the scar. I did not mention St Louis hospital where I went when I had a first painful attack, before the surgery. They charge me $1000 without even checking my stomach, they just did the blood work and that was it. They told me to go home and visit my general practitioner if needed. Two days after, I was in St.. Louis I went to Total Access Urgent Care (my own initiative), they did CT and discovered my condition, that (they) helped me, but I ended up in a hospital with a lot of amateurs. Friends from all around the world cannot believe this story, because US hospitals are somewhat differently presented in the movies. Here there are no doctors, only nurses, so may God help us all with this terrible system in which only one thing is for sure - high...
Read moreMy sister was transported to St Clare Hospital on the morning of January 10, 2023, from the nursing home where she resides nearby. She was having a stroke. The ER doctor called me and stated she had a heart fraction ratio of 20% which is poor and that she had 1-3, maybe 5 days to live, without performing any tests. He stated he would order an MRI but I was never informed if was administered and what the results showed. She was returned to the nursing home on Jan 12th. I spoke to her then and on the 13th and on the 16th she ate all her lunch by herself and played with a beach ball with the therapist. I have pics posted to prove it. I spoke to her for 5 minutes that day and she spoke clear and concise. The 17th her therapist was off so I did not attempt to speak to her again until the 18th. According to the St Clare ER doctor, she should have died already, but she was still eating but could no longer hold her fork for very long. She could not communicate well and was losing her cognitive skills. On the 19th it was apparent that either the stroke that was not tended to at St Clare Hospital was progressing as she was turning a light grey in color and her use of her right hand and right eye was gone. I had her conveyed to a different hospital where REAL doctors contacted me after they were unable to obtain the records from St Clare in a timely fashion. A CAT scan was performed along with other tests. I was called every day by either the ER doctor or the resident doctor or her neurologist and updated on her prognosis. She had a UTI, was suffering with an Acute Kidney Injury from Severe Dehydration and had Pneumonia. The doctor's assured me that they would do everything to try and correct the problems but said that St Clare doctors should have and maybe the prognosis would be better. They hydrated her and got her pneumonia under control and performed their own MRI to compare to the original Cat scan they had done initially. My sister was still breathing on her own though her use of her right side had not yet returned. On Sat, Jan 21st unresponsive to the doctors and nurses, I called her and for whatever reason she responded to my voice and kept a 5 minute conversation with me to the astonishment of her nurse and others in the room. Her speech was perfect and clear and I cried with happiness, but by the following day her communication had diminished. By the 24th she was unable to open her eyes and she could barely clutch my hand, but she was still breathing on her own. Today, it is the 27th, a full 17 days since she first was rushed to St Clare and her eyes were partially open though she was not able to communicate. She could hear me but could not respond. 17 days when if St Clare would have fully examined her and tried to stop the stroke from progressing or in the minimum tried to cure her UTI or hydrated her properly, maybe she would be in much better shape than she currently is. For a doctor to play GOD and shock my living sister and I by telling us Diane only had "days" is so very wrong and unethical and unprofessional. Nursing homes and St Clare Hospital apparently do not take good care of the elderly and do not want to be bothered. I would not take a pet rat to your hospital, let alone a human life that is still breathing on her own after 17 days when we were told she had just 5, maybe. Your hospital is a disgrace no matter how nice...
