Definitely a place full of history.

This Beach was once owned by the Bruce's, an african american married couple, which they purchased in 1921. They purchased it in order that blacks across California would have a beach to go to and enjoy themselves. White city officials tried everything in their power to persuade blacks from going to the beach.

The tactics were downright dirty.

Eventually, in 1924 city officials realized that they could not dissuade blacks from coming to relax and enjoy themselves at Bruce's Beach. The city or county then used the Eminent Domain Law to illegally usurp the land from the Bruce's through racist means.

It was not until recently that either LA County officials (possibly LA City Officals) decided to give the land back to the Bruce's through their descendants of the Original Bruce's who purchased the land in 1921. According to some reports, the land is worth $20 million dollars. However, I beg to differ. If you see in person for yourself all the expensive housing located near the beach, you will know that $20 million is an understatement.

At any rate, the beach is now black owned. Beautiful piece of property which is the shore of the Pacific Ocean.

American History at it's best.

Be sure to visit and enjoy yourselves. I enjoyed my time there and will revisit again...

Bruce's Beach is a true coastal paradise! Tucked away in a serene location with breathtaking ocean vistas, this beach offers a blissful escape from the city grind. With its soft sands and gentle waves, it's the perfect spot for unwinding or taking a leisurely stroll along the stand to the pier.

What makes Bruce's Beach truly special is its remarkable history. Once owned by Charles and Willa Bruce, an African American couple, this beach carries with it a legacy of resilience and perseverance. Their story adds a layer of significance to the tranquil surroundings, making it a place of cultural importance.

The amenities at Bruce's Beach are top-notch, with clean facilities and convenient parking. Whether you're craving some sunbathing, a refreshing swim, or simply some quiet time with a good book, this beach has everything you need for a rejuvenating day out.

In summary, Bruce's Beach is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. Its natural beauty, combined with its rich heritage, makes it a must-visit destination for anyone seeking relaxation and inspiration. Don't miss out on the chance to experience this coastal...

Nice little public beach, on the line between Redondo and Manhattan. First time to the area.... I'm visiting from Louisiana. When I was about 18, (many, many moons ago...) a friend of mine wanted to move to this specific area... saw it in a magazine or something (this was before the magic of the internet, lol)... Anyway, i was in the area for work and just wanted to visit and this park is where I stopped. Obviously parking is a premium anywhere close to the beach, but the park has a 3 level tiered parking lot. While it was pretty crowded, there was still available parking and there seemed to be a constant ebb and flow from the parking lot. At the bottom, it appeared to be the lifeguard or police station. There was a good mix of folks in the area... retirees exercising, young moms with children and all ages of guys in and out trying to catch a few waves. I was there on a weekday, mid to late morning. from my car, where I was parked, I had a great view of the ocean as well as excellent people watching. 😊. All in all, a relaxed,...

The return of Bruce’s Beach to the rightful heirs was a landmark moment in attempting to right wrongs of the past. Those heirs sold the land back to Los Angeles County this week for $20 million in a decision that was surprising, but not unexpected. Here are the details. Let’s get into it! Thank you for the tip yesterday @lexiii.mariiie11 !!! #Reparations #Racism #Beach #brucesbeach #ManhattanBeach #LosAngeles #LosAngelesCounty #rightingawrong #lainaminute
