The worst library I ever visited smells like poop and piss. This library have bed bugs from all the blankets, huge bags and luggage being brought inside. I can't concentrate on my work because of the smelly people I move from spot to spot over and over. The people are all filthy their hands are so dirty you would think they were mechanics. I'm very alert at this library I look around a lot as if someone is after me. I'm busy watching the homeless people it is sad and I have many homeless friends you would never think they are homeless they do not stink they shower every morning at planet fitness at 2am and 3am. It is sad that people who.live in this area can't peacefully utilize this library considering some of out property taxes go toward this library. People that do not live in this area pack in this library on Sundays and many hold up computers not being used by sitty there using their personal laptops. I am so grateful I wasn't born and raised in California these people struggle horribly and have for some time now. I'm from Indianapolis Indiana a proud Hoosier 85% of Hoosier are homeowners by 24 yrs old. These people stink really bad I am constantly smelling mold, mildew, piss and poop. I wear a mask every time I visit and the whole time. They bring luggage's, huge bags, dirty laundry, pillows and a lot more. I am scare to put my things on the floor roaches and bed bugs are real. I have seen roaches in the library from coming in crawling out of the whole bunch of things brought...

From the outside, the building is stunning — modern architecture, clean lines, and a beautiful, inviting presence. Inside, it’s definitely one of the smaller libraries I’ve been to, but the setup is thoughtfully designed. The upstairs study area, especially by the windows, looks like a great spot to get work done — though it was super crowded when I was there.
That said, I have to be honest: my experience wasn’t great. The moment I walked in, I felt a lot of eyes on me. It wasn’t welcoming — more like people questioning why I was there. The vibe overall just felt cold. It wasn’t just the patrons either; the staff didn’t come across as particularly warm or approachable. I don’t know if it was just the energy that day, or something else, but I felt out of place the entire time.
It’s a beautifully designed space, no doubt. But in terms of the environment and how I was made to feel as a visitor? Definitely uncomfortable. I hope others have better experiences, but this one left me with a weird feeling I...
Read moreThe Manhattan Beach Library just reopened after a massive multi-million dollar rebuild. The new library is incredible - with amazing ocean views, a reading lounge complete with a fireplace, reservable private study rooms, a teen room complete with computers and age appropriate books, a large kids section...I cold go on. Not only is it beautifully designed, the space inside is open, fresh and conducive to browsing and reading books.
This library also boasts self check out and automated book return - very high tech and very easy to use. To top it off, the library staff are incredible, award winning individuals always helpful, friendly, and there to assist.
Pro tip - only two of the four private study rooms can be reserved, the other two are first come...
