I've rented many event spaces on a corporate level in my past, so I'm accustomed to the process and standard protocol. We had a group outing and decided to rent a event room at the MAC for Friendsgiving dinner. The room was nice, yet here is where things didn't go well. We were not able to hang any of our purchased signs for our Friendsgiving backdrop on any of their walls no matter what you used, we had purchased a ton of decorative candles for our dinner table and centerpieces, we were not allowed to light ANY candles of any sort, even when we were using some LED candles. MARY one of the reps just barged into the middle of our elegant dinner being set up to be sure the candles were not (actual) real candles or lit, she kept walking by and watching as the decorators were setting our dinner table. She was rude and watchful, we felt there was discrimination as she constantly checked to see what level of music we would have, and if we would be done within our timeframe. I have never experienced such discrimination in a facility of this magnitude that we paid a deposit and fee to rent. This is not your (normal) event venue! It's a recreation center posing to have (event rooms) Well just rooms they can make money renting out! This is for girl scout meetings, not parties or dinners as they advertise. No alcohol is allowed not even wine, they don't offer a podium nor a microphone for guest speakers, no bluetooth capabilities, they don't set up any tables or chairs in the room for you that (you're renting), you must set up and move them all from up the hallway into the room you booked for yourself! Take this you pay (hourly) for the time in the room, the kitchen is NOT a part of the rental and is charged as an (add on) at $20.00 additional PER HOUR, this is just to capitalize. Please take your money and business elsewhere to a REAL event venue, unless you have a kid club meeting or teachers conference. This is not even good for a kids birthday party! You can't put up anything on their walls! Mary will pop in like you didn't pay for the rented space and you don't deserve privacy, I mean just barge right into the middle of your event looking around or pointing to her watch, if you're near your time! This was a horrible experience and we will never use this type of facility again for any event not even a senior citizen social. Discrimination is still relevant in 2024 and it's VERY sad. There were other rooms rented, and I didn't see her go pay them any visits. We were treated so unprofessional that corporate needs...
Read moreThis was our first year homeschooling. When I came across the classes offered by the MAC , I was so excited to enroll my child. He participated in classes during the fall of 2024. This year, I signed him up again because he really enjoyed attending the nature class—it was something he looked forward to each week. The first six classes were with Ms. Lauren, who was a super sweet instructor. My toddler and I stayed during the classes a few times, and there was never an issue with that. During the second-to-last class, I stayed again. The class went on a hike with Ms. Amy. After the hike, the students met with Tiffany Chrzanowski (Nature Education Supervisor) to observe and learn about animals that had been brought in for the class that day. As the kids sat in a circle learning about the animals, my toddler and I were walking toward the group to join my son, who is part of the class. At that moment, Tiffany very loudly and rude told me that the class was only for homeschool nature members. We weren’t doing anything disruptive—just walking to join my son. What made the situation more upsetting was that, just a few minutes later, another parent and their toddler arrived, and Tiffany didn’t say anything to them. After the class, I asked Tiffany if there was a particular reason she didn’t say anything to the other parent. Her response was that it’s a drop-off class and that parents aren’t allowed. However, nowhere in the program description does it state that parents are not allowed to stay during class. Because of this experience, I will no longer be signing up for any future classes. I would also like to add that the parent that she didn’t say anything to was a different...
