We're new to the area and drove by this place a few times. Finally decided to stop on Sunday 12-5-21. Have you ever ate somewhere and you were instantly mad because you spent your money on food that was . Well, not worth it at all? that's this place. My husband and I ordered one barbacoa burrito & the carne con papas (I forgot what they actually called the plate) and 2 menudos to go. We ate the barbacoa burrito and carne con papas there at the store. Which btw is super small inside. The barbacoa tasted alot like roast beef. And the carne con papas had a little spice to it but that's it. Both entrees left alot to be desired. Now to the menudo. That menudo was by far THE WORST menudo I've ever tasted. We tried eating it for dinner, we couldn't even choke it down. The taste was horrible! If I were you, and you're craving authentic Mexican food, drive down the road a bit and stop at carnitas michoacan (next to dq) .. they have great tasting menudo and their torta w/carnitas...
Read moreWe showed up and started ordering and had to repeat our order many times. After we're done ordering we moved to the side to wait for us to be called only to see people that ordered Behind us getting served first about 5 people went by. Also We were the only women in there, they were only tending to the men first. We went up there and the lady said "we're not making since theirs no table available right now" but we had told her we were taking it to go and she said oh and told the lady to change it but we had already waited 15 minutes so we just decided to leave since they had yet start to prepare the order. Overall the ladys had attitude when we were there, I didn't understand how she understood the men talking but when it came to use she wasn't comprehending what we were ordering. I had seen other reviews that mention the attitude on these workers but decided to give benefit of the doubt but quickly regretted it. TRUST...
Read moreI am not a menudo expert but I’m no rookie either. Coming to Texas from Chicago, I know I have a background in authentic Mexican food but I thought/hoped I could find something even more intense, so much closer to the border. Just 0.2 miles from my hotel, I found it.
After a brief walk through the rain (well worth it given the outcome), I got a huge bowl of menudo for 7.99 which included 4 or 5 hot tortillas, presumably ‘a la mano’. I judge menudo on a few criteria. Was the broth greasy? (No). Was the tripe plentiful? (Yes). Was the tripe properly cooked and not gummy or stringy? (It was perfect). Of course they also provided the necessary accoutrements of limes, diced onion and jalapeño. For a moment I wondered where the oregano and chile de arbol was, until I found it already at the table.
Easy 5 star review. I’d be here every...
