Medlin is a provider of dangerous and unethical pseudo-scientific techniques and practices. Listen to other reviewers when they say RUN and RUN FAST!!!
In the response to one reviewer they advise to, "also considering what the prosecutors have to say about us (meaning District Attorneys' offices)." Of course they would say that as a large part of their business is built upon the prison industrial complex, and making a sound marketing pitch to the gate keepers of that industry is what makes them money. Ultimately, THAT is who their treatment programs are designed to please. People that are sent to Medlin are NOT their clients; the prison industrial complex is their true master.
Update to response from Owner:
The claim that all of your treatments are based on the latest research in psychology is an unequivocal lie. Case in point, you use the polygraph device in one your many "diverse" treatment programs, but the polygraph device has not been validated by any scientific method. The American Psychological Association goes out of its way on its official website to say, "Most psychologists and other scientists agree that there is little basis for the validity of polygraph tests. Courts, including the United States Supreme Court (cf. U.S. v. Scheffer, 1998 in which Dr.'s Saxe's research on polygraph fallibility was cited), have repeatedly rejected the use of polygraph evidence because of its inherent unreliability."
So... you claim to use science while using blatantly unscientific methods and practices.
The prison industrial complex is a reference to a company that makes a profit off of the $182 billion a year crooked and corrupt criminal justice system. Your business takes part in that crookedness and corruption by using unscientific programs and techniques that are catered to meet the whims of Judges, Prosecutors, and Probation Officers all while blatantly lying about their scientific validity.
You should be ashamed of yourselves, but like any good 'Snake Oil Salesmen', I doubt that...
Read moreI write this review with the hope of preventing other families from experiencing what we did. Upon our agreement, Howard Drutman was appointed as our family's custody evaluator to assist in determining our children's best interests. During this process, he enlisted his colleague, Julie Medlin, to conduct an additional evaluation.
Regrettably, my interactions with Julie Medlin revealed her to be unprofessional, biased, and unethical. Initially, she quoted our family $3K for her services, yet the final charge exceeded $23,000. Recently, the judge's final order highlighted disagreements with both Howard's and Julie’s evaluations. Drutman's approach was particularly concerning, as it was a complete reversal; his court testimony starkly contradicted the written recommendation he had submitted just a month or so earlier. This recommendation, which incurred charges of over $50K and took two years to complete, partly due to Julie Medlin's involvement, was essentially disregarded within minutes.
Julie Medlin claimed the $23,000 fee covered merely two conversations and the review of notes. In collaboration with Howard Drutman and an associate, Lawson Hagler, her approach demonstrated a misuse of testing methods and seemed driven by financial gain.
Her testimony in court appeared overwhelmingly biased, to the extent that it risked being entirely dismissed. The adage “If the only tool you have is a hammer, you tend to see every problem as a nail” seems apt for Julie Medlin. By overstepping her professional boundaries, she risked inflicting further damage, averted only by the court's rejection of her assessment.
I acknowledge not conducting thorough research before consenting to her role as an evaluator, a decision I wholly own. It's my sincere hope that this review can spare your family from a...
Read moreWhen you see this place.. RUN! The receptionist is very RUDE, obviously under trained on how to conduct customer service as an ADULT and ask how can she help you then cuts you off and over talk you as you’re trying to explain what YOU called for. They care about nothing but MONEY! I explained the situation over the phone before booking an appt and was told it’ll cost $200. Once arrived they said oh no it’s over $1,000 for the SAME situation I explained over the phone before booking the appt! Money from taking the day off work was lost and time was WASTED! The receptionist claims it’ll cost that much elsewhere because there’s not many places like them in Atlanta. LIES! Within mins I had another appt booked for $200 in Atlanta for the same exact thing they do. The new company I found is caring, and said this place sounds horrible and shouldn’t be doing people like this and helped tremendously. Another thing I like about the other place I found is that they book the appts for you, they find the right therapist for your needs and refund you if you’re not satisfied. DO NOT GO TO MEDLIN! THIS IS A RIP OFF OF A COMPANY WHO RESPECT MONEY MORE THAN PEOPLE! You’ve been warned!
To your reply: Again.. showing a lack of empathy for customers. I’m saying exactly what happened to my husband and I & you begin your statement with fake concern and apologies, then end your statement with “ my story doesn’t make sense” further proving my point. I’m sorry the experience your emotionless, under trained staff gave me isn’t too your liking. Like I said. You all have been warned. Look elsewhere for your needs. They care about money, more...
