I have a complaint about the Dollar Tree store owner and Maria, supposedly the store manager at this particular Dollar Tree on Reservation Road in Marina, California for Not Honoring the Priced as marked Policy on an item. The item was a basket I liked which a stack of them were placed on the very top shelf and I had to call somebody to bring them down for me and she had to go grab the step ladder to do so and when she brought it down we've noticed that those stack of baskets were marked $1.25 on the Shelf but they wanted $5 for it! I told her since you've misplaced them yourself, you need to honor that lower price and she was determined to break the law! Maria even admitted that she is the one who had placed them there but still she wasn't going to honor the prices marked and I have an issue with that it's a matter of principle and this is the law and it is a misdemeanor and I have a couple of quotes for you regarding this California law for having to honor the price as marked. Mind you this is not a customer picking up one thing and misplacing it somewhere else on the wrong Shelf, these shelves were not reachable by shorter or medium height people you'd have to be very tall in order to reach them and they were all stacked in one place so it was intended to be on that shelf and placed there by the same manager who refused to honor the price as marked on the Shelf.
A manager should be qualified and knowledgeable about these laws, apparently these days they make just about anybody a manager without enough knowledge about their obligations and don't know the laws regarding the business they're in. Know the rules so you don't break the law Maria!
To me it's a matter of principle and this is a misdemeanor and punishable by law and this type of Errors which they refuse to fix can be reported to Consumer Protection agencies
She just stood there and argued with me and honor refused to honor the price om the very top shelf, whatever happened to customer's always right?! I find many store employees and managers extremely rude and obnoxious nowadays. I know what I'm talking about, years ago I was managing a retail store in California and that's how I know. I've quoted those California laws so you can decide for yourselves, I kept telling her it is the law and she must honor it but she refused so I'd like to voice my opinion here and will make sure to file a complaint complaint with BBB and FTC because she ticked me off and I am not one to be bullied. . This is a California law and I will add the following quotes:
" California law requires that businesses honor the prices that are Advertised, Posted, or marked for a product ".
"In California, it can be a misdemeanor for retailers to not honor a price"
"If a retailer is found guilty of a misdemeanor for inaccurate pricing, they could face a fine of up to $1,000 and/or up to one year in jail".
" If you are overcharged at a store, you can speak to the manager. By law, you are entitled to the lowest advertised, posted, or quoted price offered by the store".
Know your rights and fight back don't let the store managers or employees bully you I just didn't think it was worth my time to argue with an ignorant individual who loves to power wrestle but I made sure to fight back by EXPOSING maria and the Marina Dollar Tree here.
If this happens to you, and the store manager refuses to fix their error and honor the price as marked or displayed or advertised you can contact the Attorney General's office, the Better Business Bureau, the federal trading Commission Consumer...
Read moreThe store can be clean, or a bit cluttered in the narrow aisles if the staff have boxes of items out when they are stocking the shelves; it's random which scenario you'll encounter. Sometimes items you saw the week before simply disappear, never to return, just like in the Grocery Outlet next door, so I suggest stocking up while you can. The Dollar Tree will generally be cheaper than the Grocery Outlet for comparable items, so shop here first. The shopping carts are very small due to the tight confines, and have a very annoying tall pole attached to them to discourage you from taking them to your car. That's to cut down on cart losses, but it's inconvenient. You have to tilt the cart back on its rear wheels to get it out the door. (UPDATE OCT 2022: The manager strictly prohibits taking the carts outside, according to a friendly cashier I saw today, so plan ahead if you want to buy a lot of stuff in one visit). The staff is usually pleasant and helpful, in my experience. I just wish the store was a bit larger. The main photo showing an impressive facade is NOT of the actual store at...
