this is a gorgeous and peaceful place tucked away in the middle of Marshfield, like its name, it seems like water randomly bubbles out of the ground here. they actually needed to build a boardwalk on the trail. On the hillside right above it, a small stream appears from somewhere underground and runs down through the grass and under the boardwalk to join a creek that tumbles over several small waterfalls before becoming a pond. The aquatic nature of the soil of parts of the park might be the reason why there are certain kinds of flowers that a gardener must have cultivated here that I've never seen anywhere else. That's not to say that they don't exist other places, but I haven't seen them. it's a good size park, maybe three square acres if I had to guess maybe more but there's trails that go through wooded areas and then tree shaded glens full of mowed grass, there's a pond and water running everywhere. There's a nice gazebo and a historic location also. Your kids can always find rocks that people have painted and left for them, some of them are really beautifully done some of them, not so much but it's the thought that counts right? The good people of Marshfield come down here and leave those plastic Easter eggs full of candy or, if you're lucky, maybe even a $5 bill! So if you're here, don't be scared to pick up an Easter egg and crack an open because it's not from 2 years ago I promise! This would be a perfect place for a family get together or a birthday party. I'm sure there's a really interesting story involving the history of this place because it seems like it may be connected to some of those beautiful, unique and ornate stone walls and structures that I've seen on some of the properties surrounding, and in the same area as, Hidden Waters. I have a feeling some hard working old-timer put a lot of time into making this place into something beautiful (I like to think he did this for somebody he loved) long before the land was donated or sold to become a publicly accessable place in his memory. I could be wrong; that's just my hunch but I would like to find out more about it for sure. I guess I could get off my lazy tuckuss and Google it but I work hard and it's been a long day so I wish somebody would just tell me instead. Anyway I don't live in Marshfield but I would say five times out of 10, if I'm stopped in Marshfield it's because I'm going to this park. If you're in the area and you have the time, don't miss it! You'll be...
Read moreA Beautiful little park! Has an abundance of carefully maintained pathways with numerous places to rest along the way, some quaint foot bridges, a relocated log cabin that you can visit on certain days/hours...paved pathway surrounds the cabin. I do believe as nicely kept up as the pathways are...you'd be able to use an electric wheelchair fairly easily on even most of the graveled paths. Benches and covered areas to rest. A tiny stream flows through the middle of the park. Toilets are located at entry. Lots of informative markers. All of this in the center of a fairly quiet neighborhood. The only problem I can see with it is the lack of parking. This park is a pleasant way to jog, stroll or to walk your dog. There is a leash law in effect and you have to pick up after your dog does their "business ". A true delight...I almost hate to leave such a glowing review because people might want to visit and "crowd"...
