I've been going to this dog park regularly for well over a year and have met a lot of nice, conscientious owners, but I've finally had enough of other owners not minding their pets. This morning, I got run into and knocked over by a pack of rowdy dogs. I got hit with enough force that I got a bruise on my leg and hurt my wrist in the process. Dogs will be dogs, but not one of the owners came over to help me up, offer an apology, or rein their dog in. A few weeks before, a dog took a giant poop with literally everyone standing there watching. The owner, nor anyone else, made an effort to pick it up, so finally I did it. On that note, I've noticed an increase in the amount of poop lying around over the last few months. The owners tend to congregate in one area and talk, zone out, or be on their phones. They often don't pay attention, and the dogs go off to the far end to poop and it doesn't get picked up. Aggressive dogs are often not dealt with. In addition to getting knocked over, I was bit by a dog over the summer while trying to pull that dog off mine. My husband visited a few months ago, and our dog was attacked and biten before even getting through the gate. The zoned out owner just shrugged her shoulders and mumbled some sort of reply but didn't do anything. My husband vowed never to go back. Minus the poop, physically it is nice park, but some negligent owners are wrecking it...
Read moreI was going to the Olney dog park, which is closer to me than the Dewey Park, HOWEVER when two friends of mine introduced me to the Dewey dog park I was so happy. This dog park is a great size, has good parking, a separate dog area for both small and large dogs and the artificial grass is awesome! No more mud holes and this park even has nice size mounds for the dogs to run on, chase each other around and fly off of!! AND THEY DO! There is plenty of seating - and in case it might start raining suddenly, there is an overhang. Cool! The people I've met at this dog park are so friendly dogs if all sizes play together. One of the great philosophies of my life is... Unless a problem presents itself, there is no problem. People have been very responsible with their animals and, of course, if you would like your little one to play in the little dog side then that is your choice. My little guy loves to play with the big guys and there has been no problem at all. I like the fact that there is a choice of dedicated...
Read moreReally cool place I found when I adopted my first rescue. The dog park is fairly maintained and has almost everything your pet could want. There are big and small spaces for different sized dogs and owners are pretty good about cleaning up after their pets. There are kids that come in as well as a playground right next to the dog park so I suggest making sure your dog is well adjusted to young children before visiting. Also keep in mind this is a public dog park so sometimes people bring dogs that are not very socialized sometimes. It's a rare occurrence but it does happen and I have seen owners who were not experienced in training their dogs in a busy environment like Dewey. Otherwise, I do highly suggest this park over the others in the area as there are a lot of things to do with your pet here such as walking,...
