Filo Café opened last October 8th according to the Reels video we saw. We went over there today for some takeout and to check it out. It's located in a nice little residential community shopping center with lots of parking spaces. We were excited to note that it was just one store away from one of our favorite Indian food takeout places (Biryani City). Since there isn't really any stiff competition in the Filipino food category in the nearby areas, we were truly excited for Filo Cafe to pop up! We weren't disappointed. The "face" of the cafe who greeted us was this very nice and amiable young lady at the counter. It was a pleasant experience to deal with her. The shop itself had a neat, uncluttered space inside with a dine-in capacity for a good 30+ people (just our guesstimate). We arrived during a busy hour and it was full house. Surprisingly the takeout order came out fast and was packaged very nicely and securely. The only negative was not having a cup holder like in the fastfood places so we had our hands full with the three glasses of the halo-halo dessert. At home, we shared the food and our thoughts, and we all agreed that Filo Cafe is indeed a very good place for Filipino food. We loved the food -- fresh veggie lumpia, lechon kawali, tapsilog, mami, pancit palabok, and (of course) halo-halo. They all tasted delicious, and the individual portions were just right. We decided that it is a place we'll be visiting again,...
Read moreFirst time here today. Ordered for Take out and I will give you my honest opinion. Service: On a Sunday, dining room table are occupied. Had to wait for 15 min until someone show up and take my order. Lack of help up front. After your soft sell more than a month ago,.should have a dedicated cashier or front of the house..
Food: I'd say, vegetable spring roll is not bad, homemade cooking, not salty, not oily, well blended.
Lechon hit the spot! Superb! Tender, moist and skin is crunchy 😋 although could use two dipping sauce lechon sauce aside from the vinegar.
Pompano is good, not burnt, not salty, moist, tasty, well prepared, don't need the sweet and sour sauce-(found it mediocre at best) fish is better without it. With that price..I was hoping it to be a whole fish.
Pansit- I asked for the chicken to be on the side cos of vegetarian. I find the chicken, dry and not tasty. Pansit could use more ingredients, I can count the carrot, snap peas..taste MSG. to me.
Halo Halo- chunk of ice, not a lot of toppings and ube ice cream is better than mango..somewhat disappointed..
Overall..I will give you 4. Quality of food by at large is good. Service can be improve and Halo Halo can improve. I...
Read moreI think Filo Cafe just may be my favorite Filipino restaurant in MoCo. The restaurant is cozy and quaint with friendly staff. The menu includes detailed descriptions of all dishes and there's a variety of desserts on display to choose from.
I visited here with a friend on a Saturday afternoon and the environment was quite lively as a bakery pop-up was being held and patrons were engaged in singing karaoke.
My friend and I ordered the "sampler," which at about $35 was a good deal considering the variety and amount of food. The sampler came with garlic rice, lechon, pancit bihon, lumpia, and we chose tocino. We were plenty stuffed and unfortunately did not have room for dessert. One of the ladies from the kitchen was even going around serving complimentary sisig to guests.
The restaurant is tucked away from the bustle of Rockville Pike with plenty of parking available as it is located in a shopping center.
The food is delicious and reasonably priced, the staff are accommodating and kind, and the location is great. I'm looking forward to coming back to try the halo halo...
