A very historical Maryland home of Gabriel Duvall, one of the early Supreme Court justices, but now often forgotten. Stacy was a fantastic tour guide for the home; an expert on the lives of the Duvall family members in Maryland, and their relationship with other notable founding families in the state as well as with Jefferson, Madison, and Monroe. You can explore the grounds at your leisure. However to tour the home call ahead! They are short staffed and someone may not always be available if you show up without calling ahead.

If you enjoy history, it’s worth a visit. It’s a 1812 Federal-style mansion of a Supreme Court Justice. There’s a free parking lot and tours offers on some days. Budget spending 45-60 minutes here. Despite a dark history, they do a better-than-most job at honoring the people who used to be on the lane before Europeans and the hundreds of people once enslaved on the land.

Week of the book fair...Spectacular Event Great wares from other vendors, art, jewelry, lotions, potions, produce, breads, deserts juices, fish, rib dinners. Have not toured the actual museum, but the grounds are pretty for a walk and learning about the history of the place.

Today I had an incredible opportunity to touch history through the Marietta House historic home in Glendale, MD. It was so refreshing to learn the stories of the Black humans and their families as the central focus of the tour, rather than the details and highlights of the oppressors! The artifacts, immersive elements and authentic stories literally made me time travel! Thank you so much to the wonderful team at the Marietta House @slaveryinventorydatabase for taking the time with me today!

Highly Recommended by Conductor Dee! Marietta House Museum 5626 Bell Station Rd, Glenn...

Very informative tour. The tour guide, Karen, was engaging and well prepared. I appreciated that the discussion included a great deal of information about the people who were enslaved there. So many of these "plantation era" manors downplay or ignore the plight of the people who were enslaved there. Thank you Karen, and the staff at Marietta House for making my time there informative and...
