WE DID IT! We did the entire loop and from leaving and returning to Lahaina it was 10 hours. Numerous waterfalls with magnificent scenery. You will need a full tank of gas, food and a lot of patience. After you leave Hana the road DOES turn to dirt and is very rough. It is very narrow and you need to share the road with others and not try to take corners or pass on the bridges at the same time. Bathrooms are far and few to find. Blacksand beach was breath taking. The back side of the loop had views that many miss because of the cliff hanging roads and difficult road conditions for driving. The road does return to a beautifully paved road though. We used the road to Hana tour guide app. The app even recommended not going to certain parts because of the locals and how they treat tourist.
I feel like there’s cooler places to go without all the driving and stress of...
