My wife started off our 8 night stint on Maui in Hana at the Bamboo Inn. We stayed in the Honu suite for two nights and absolutely loved it. Our room in particular had an outdoor bath tub and shower, which really added to the ambiance of the stay. Staring out onto the bay and black sand beach in the tub will be a memory to last a lifetime. The room was no frills in the best of ways. There was no TV or luxury amenities, but it was impeccably clean, had an amazing mattress, a small kitchenette to reheat leftovers from the food trucks down the street, and ocean views complete with beach access. We have zero regrets spending a couple nights in Hana because we really enjoyed the off the beaten path vibes of the area. Lots of people just come out for the day, but I would have felt so rushed. Spending a couple nights was the perfect way to experience the area because it allowed us to enjoy the slower pace. Our host, John, was super kind and knowledgeable about how to spend our time with great suggestions. One of which was to get Huli Huli chicken on the beach, which was super delicious with great waterfront views. Another that the botanical gardens were worth the side trip and we totally agree. We also learned he has a deep connection to the community because of the magazine article included in the information book placed in our room. What we loved about Hana was the unpolished and authentic vibes. Both nights we fell asleep with the patio window open welcoming cool ocean breezes and rhythmic waves sounds while we slept. Now we're sitting on the beach in Kapalua with the Disneyland-ish resort persona wishing we were back in Hana. We hope to be back sometime soon John. In the meantime, go huskies.

We just got back from a 2 night stay in the Nai'a suite and we can't wait to go back! This was the perfect stay for my husband, toddler, and I. The king bed nicely fit all of us and was very comfy. My toddler slept almost 13 hrs the first night! It was so nice having two floors as our toddler could sleep peacefully while my husband and I could relax downstairs. The tub outside was so nice especially when it rained in the morning. All 3 of us could fit comfortably in the tub. The only thing is the jets don't work. But that didn't stop us from enjoying it. The kitchen has a fridge and there's a small oven with a stove top. I wish there was a microwave but we made due with the stove top. There were pots and pans in addition to dishes and cutlery. We made use of almost everything. John is a very sweet older gentleman that was around to answer questions and help us with our door key. He provides a simple breakfast of warmed croissants, muffins, and a couple of slices of papaya which for some may not seem like much but as a busy mama, having someone provide breakfast tasted like vacation. My toddler loved the dogs on property. The neighbor has a dog named Moxie who followed us down to the beach and back! It was almost like she was our dog! I'm born and raised on Maui so I was totally used to the few critters that would come and go. Hana is a tropical rainforest right next to the beach so for anyone complaining, you must understand it come with the territory. We overall had no issues and would recommend this place to anyone seeking a retreat!

Absolutely loved our stay at The Bamboo Inn at Hana Bay. We loved the rustic charm and truly Hawaiian aloha spirit. The beach is so close and you can hear the surf crashing from the bed. We stayed for one night in the Honu Suite to break up our Road To Hana trip and we were so glad we did. The Honu Suite had everything we needed and we a absolutely loved the private outdoor shower, which was really the only thing I was worried about but was such a refreshing experience...a warm shower outside!! The continental breakfast - warm croissants and muffin with papyaya and breakfast juice was a great start as we were going to the Haleakala National Park to do the the Pipiwai Trail (which I would also highly recommend). Thank you to John, Snoop and family for sharing your beautiful pievp of paradise.

Beautiful location....however, this property really needs ome attention! Firstly when we arrived in the dark the host barely showed us how to open the front door and left. We had to find the outside shower and the light switches to see on our own. The kitchen was very poorly stocked with minimal plates and plastic cups etc. The fridge leaked water onto the floor. The bed was hard and uncomfortable, the linens were old and worn out.The bedroom ceiling fan was old and noisy with a bearing worn out, needs a new fan. The outside shower was fun but definitely dirty and not private! The cute small breakfast basket was very limited with a muffin and warmed up croissant, a sliver of butter all placed on top of a miniscule sliver of papaya! Come on, for over $300 a night.... really? We stayed three nights.....also the neighbors upstairs were noisy and they could look down outside and see us through the floor boards on our lanai from theirs. Not very private. Plus the ugly dirty bath jet tub on the lanai was a total waste of space. More patio furniture would be way more useful here. The view was beautiful, weather was great.....Hana was a rural interesting town with gorgeous hikes and views all around. Probably won't stay here again though! Needs some love...
