Despite many efforts to "save the Russell" this historic gem remains in need of major renovations. It's not comfortably heated and the screen is probably original from its inception. I'm glad this didn't stop me from attending the holiday screening of "White Christmas". Despite the cold, it made me feel warm and fuzzy. I could easily imagine the golden era of Hollywood with Bing and Rosemary along with other great actors. I felt like part of things:elegant, cosmopolitan, sharp, dressing up to go out instead of schlepping out in flip flops and a messy bun. I wanted to switch out my Burt's Bees for Dior red lipstick - if only for an afternoon. I walked in annoyed that I didn't know there wasn't heat. It amped up a notch when I found out they were out of concessions. I was not a happy camper. But then, I opened the doors into the theater and the innate charm of the Russell took over. That's the part that I don't want you to miss. If you've read reviews that have you leaning toward not going to a show there, I hope this one gives you the facts you need to be prepared so you go and experience the charm of this beautiful, historic theater. I left wanting to know more. I spent hours researching and learning more about the history. I will support future efforts for restoration. This great lady needs to be saved and we can all be part of that effort.

I hadn't been here to see a movie since the 80s and tonight I decided to see how the theater would be. I can honestly say that it was a great experience to watch the classic movie Halloween 2 here. While technology has changed, the environment was perfect for a scary movie on a chilly October night. Add in fresh popcorn and a cold Dr Pepper to make it a very special memory. They're still doing work to improve the building, but it is definitely a good time to check out this piece of Maysville history.

One of the more historic theaters in Kentucky. Architecturally rich. In a long and expensive process of being renovated. An entertainment gem that any city large or small would love to have. A committee is raising funds and moving the needle. They could use federal, state, and local government funding, and all three should be interested in saving such an important landmark.

Awful. This place is unspeakably bad. Their audio system is very static and very hard to hear. The screen is also hard to see and I sat in the middle. There is a giant hole in the ceiling and we heard cracks coming from it. I honestly feel like this place should be shut down because of how unsafe it is. The only thing I will give this place is the food and the history. Other than that this...
