Moon River Bed & Breakfast — Hotel in Maysville

Magic!! Bed and Breakfasts are not my usual preference, and I am not drawn to "quaint" or what is generally thought to be the standard decor of Bed and Breakfasts in historic towns, which Maysville certainly is. However, I was blown away by Moon River Bed & Breakfast!||There is a spirit, an energy, about this beautiful building that enchanted me from the start. The new owner, Denny Dellinger, attracts wonderful guests, and I, who normally do not talk before an hour after coffee, had a wonderful time at the delicious breakfasts with three different groups of guests over my stay. Denny made it clear that, if anyone preferred a less social start to the day, he could set up a table in the light and airy kitchen or provide service to the room. He is very attentive to their needs and responds to every request. The whole atmosphere reflects this.||The beds are very comfortable, the neighborhood is charming and only a five minute walk to downtown Maysville, which is delightful. I was there four nights. I'm really confused about the good reviews for this place. You can look at my multiple reviews and see I'm usually very complimentary and I know a bad review can hurt a business so I don't do it lightly. This is advertised as a bed and breakfast, but it felt more like a room rental. The common areas where well lived in by the owner. Upon arrival he was sitting and working in the living room with the TV blaring loudly (which he didn't turn down), dining room had 3-4 four open laptops where he was working and kitchen sink full of dirty dishes. We didn't feel like we could use the common areas due to this. The room is a good size with good layout. However, it was SO hot - finally cooled down at night. The worst was how dirty it was. See pics for the toilet, dust everywhere and even a huge dust ball on shower ledge. Location is great & area walkable. Parking is roadside and never had a problem there. Our stay at the Moon River B&B was a last-second decision before heading back home, and we're so happy the Maysville Room was available! The owner, Denny Dellinger, and his assistant Alice were so very kind to us, making our visit a second home away from home. The room was very spacious, comfortable, and just beautiful, with a wonderful view to the historic church across the street. At night the street was quiet, except for the occassional motorcycle going by in the evening. We could tell every detail was well thought out. And the breakfast was just so very delicious, with plenty of healthy options. There's parking in the rear, but there's plenty of parking on the street, and entrance to the B&B is from the front door on the street.
