I love Maysville and how many unique, independent eateries that are available. I have a few favorites and tend to go there each time I'm in town, but the husband wanted to try something different this past Saturday. I did what any lover of good food does, and ask the amazing bartender at Kenton's Stories and Spirits which of the two restaurants I had narrowed it down to that we should visit. Of those two options she overwhelmingly suggested Babz Bistro. I was very familiar with this restaurant because I've been munching on the pimento cheese from there for the last 8 months as I planned my wedding from the booth in the bookstore/bar. I had also reached out to the owner of the restaurant about doing catering for the wedding. While she was unavailable for that job, she was so nice and even recommended other places to try. when the brick and mortar store opened in July it was just ahead of my planned wedding. my family and wedding party who were in town for the weekend raved about how good it was. it wasn't until early October that my husband and I were able to visit. I have added this place as another favorite in town. I've read their menu for at least a year but wasn't certain I would like the flavors she uses. T o the surprise and laughter of the front of house staff, we ordered several things on the menu because we wanted to sample as much as we could. I could tell you how delicious each dish was at the time but the biggest compliment I can give is that the leftovers the next day were still delicious! there isn't a large drink menu, it's self serve water, tea (sweetened and unsweet) and a limited selection of canned beers. initially that wasn't appealing to me but I think a soda would have pulled away from the flavors of the food. Trust me when I say you don't want anything to mess with your palate when you're eating here. let your taste buds enjoy every moment! The only weird thing was I couldn't find the bathroom. if it hadn't been so busy I would have asked if that person but on a Saturday when there was a festival going on two blocks away and the Maysville players were having an incredible show at the Washington Opera house, this place was booming. I'm really looking forward to going back.

Upon walking up to this restaurant, we found a beautiful aesthetic complete with flower filled planters and outdoor seating. Alex greeted us and was happy to answer our questions. We settled on the sandwich of the week (pork/caprese on toast) and the “No Butts” platter. Both were scrumptious!!! Completely bursting with flavor! Portions were large, so we were glad we shared plates. Jenna served our food to us and gave local recommendations for us to experience the town. We drove over an hour to experience this and I’ll be happy to do it again. This needs to be your first food stop when visiting this area!

I was visiting friends that live in the area and they recommended the new Babz Bistro. It was excellent. The bistro itself is pretty with tall ceilings, tables and booths, and a view inside the kitchen. The staff was helpful when asked questions about the menu. I ordered the 3rd Street Special Bowl. The presentation was beautiful and the flavors even better. Every bite tasted fresh, and sweet with a heated tang. The wontons were gluten free and beyond our expectations in texture and taste. I will be eating here again on another trip.

Babz Bistro is the best food in the Buffalo Trace region, hands down. The food is absolutely delicious, fresh and creative. The fried green tomato BLT altered my life. I died. Went to Heaven. Looked down upon myself, waved, gave a thumbs up and blew a chefs kiss to Barb and Al. Spoke a proclamation over the land deeming it the best fancy sammy. Came back down to earth. Then finished my sandwich. On a more serious note, I have a severe tree nut allergy and they have been more than accommodating each time with all safety procedures in place to reduce cross contamination but also educating me on the menu with what items wouldn’t be allergen friendly to me. On top of that, they have always been incredibly patient with me in line or on the phone when discussing the menu options and allergen info. They are huge on community and utilizing fresh and local ingredients. Their flavor combos are unmatched. The customer service is superb. They truly make you feel like you’re the only customer in line and like a rockstar. It’s a positive experience that has the power to change the course of your day with their kindness, thoughtfulness, hospitality, humor and smiles. There is something about their establishment that makes you...

I don’t do this very often, but for the sake of foodies in the Maysville and southern Ohio area I found a new spot! I know it doesn’t look like much, but this place has the best fried green tomatoes I’ve ever tasted in my life! Matt got the “Sentimental Journey”—a spicy pork and rice bowl. I got the “Shalom Maysville” which is smoked salmon over rice with an amazing thai sauce with fried red cabbage. I’m telling you-amazing! They’re located in Maysville as you are heading into Kentucky across the old bridge, it’s essentially straight across the first intersection in an alley (you do make a very brief left then an immediate right into an alley). We’ve been there twice now and last night brought my parents from Dayton. We drove 45 minutes one way just to eat there and it was worth every second of the commute! The young couple Barbara and Al that own it are, aside from being amazing chefs, are incredibly nice!!! Don’t judge a book by its cover! This place is absolutely amazing! Super great for a date night. We found a spot to overlook the river and enjoyed the food with a...
