John M. Whisenant Park — Attraction in McKinney

This was our first visit to this park. It was very clean and the grounds well maintained. We took our 5 year old daughter on a late Sunday afternoon. There were 2 separate play areas for younger and older children. The playgrounds have swings, multiple slides, a climbing wall, monkey bars, benches, a water fountain for people & one for pets too;) There is also a wet play area for kids/pets to go through. It is a structure that has water spray in intervals. The park is huge with a large field and trails as well. Whether you are looking to walk, run, ride bikes, or play this is a great park for all ages. Our 5 year old mainly played on the larger playground, since it has several big slides. Cute little playground with a larger and smaller play structure, surrounded by wood chips. Not much shade, but a little around the edges and under the pavilion. Picnic tables, swings, and a small splash area. Has a drinking fountain with lower dog bowl. Located right behind an elementary school and connected to the neighborhoods via cement trails. Only street parking available during school days, and navigation won't direct you through the neighborhood to get there.
