I had a very upsetting experience at McLean Community Center today . I was working quietly on a project in an open meeting room (no sign said it was reserved or restricted), and after 30 minutes, a staff ( White man in his mid 40th or Early 50th) came in and harshly told me to leave. He raised his voice at me Yelling “ Leave the room right now, Just because the door is open doesn’t mean you can come and sit here.!!” I was shocked and hurt by how aggressive and disrespectful he spoke to me. I am a resident of McLean, and did not do anything to give him a reason to treat me in such a most inferior way. I left the building feeling humiliated and in tears. I was respectful, dressed appropriately, and using the space quietly. I would never ever step a foot in this place ever again. No one should be treated this way in a public community center. The staff needs to receive training on how to speak respectfully...

My daughter has also participated and enjoyed their programs thoroughout her childhood. In early elementary she started with ballet and tap classes, art camp, Winter and Halloween parties. Later she did Fencing camp, cooking lessons, and art classes. Every year she looks forward to the Block Party and McLean Day! All amazing experiences and...
