CLE bride (By Expressions) — Attraction in Mentor

This place is okay at best, the only reason I'm giving it three stars vs. less is because the sales associate who helped my friend (bride) try on her dresses was very nice and helpful. However, they don't have the greatest selection, their dresses aren't anything super unique and their bridesmaids dresses are kind of outdated or typical. Most of them look like prom dresses from the early-mid 2000's which isn't really the look right now, for weddings at least. They're also extremely overpriced especially when you can order more on-trend styles from places like Show Me Your Mumu and Lulu's for a fraction of the cost with the same/better quality and a much shorter wait time.

Their purchase/return policy is the part that is most annoying and doesn't make a lot of sense, basically they kind of slip in without being super up front about how long dresses that need to be ordered take to arrive and it's a range of like 4-6 months for the bridesmaid dresses. But they tell you that the order won't actually be placed until all members of the bridal party pay, they charge your card up front for the full amount, but aren't able to just refund you if people decide they don't want that dress and the rest of the party doesn't end up ordering. I understand not refunding anyone if the order had already been placed but it's confusing to us because according to them they don't actually place the order until all members call to give their measurements and pay. Luckily, they did come up with a "solution" that also didn't really make sense which was crediting my dress price to my friend's wedding dress that hadn't been fully paid for yet and suggesting that my friend just gives me the money. So basically the store was still getting the same amount of money had they just refunded my dress normally and seemed to just be making things difficult for us...

I got my wedding dress here and I just picked it up today! The dress is stunning!!!! It is so beautiful and even better than I was expecting. I also want to point out how amazing the staff is as well; they are so wonderful, kind, and helpful. They were happy to help with picking out dresses and didn't even mind taking some off the window mannequins for me to try on where you could tell it would bother other consultants at other stores. Their dresses had a great variety in fabric, so you aren't stuck with any that don't work for your taste. They were not pushy and respected my opinion while trying on dresses. They did not make me try on anything I wasn't interested in and let me go through the store and pick out my favorites. I went to a few other places before Expressions and often felt like I was not being listened to, didn't always get to pull the dresses I wanted, and being pushed to trying on things I already knew would be a waste of time to try on. I am very picky and I know right away what I like and it's bothersome when that's not heard. I had absolutely none of these problems at Expressions. They were also happy to wait outside of the dressing room and only help when I had a dress on. Not all stores had consultants in the dressing room, but I did experience this at one store. It was really uncomfortable and negatively impacted my experience. I definitely appreciated Expressions giving me my privacy in the dressing room. I came in with an expecting friend to look at and try on bridesmaid dresses. We especially wanted her measurements taken, since she's beginning to show. The wedding occurs several months after her baby arrives, but the dress we choose will need ordered before then, preferably now, so we wanted to make sure we get the sizing right. I was rudely told they couldn't help me because I bought my bridal gown at another shop. I explained I intended on buying the bridesmaid dresses from Expressions, but after all that abysmal service, I guess I'll be taking my business elsewhere!

EDIT in response to Owner's reply: Allow me to go into more detail. She asked if I purchased my bridal gown from Expressions. When I answered no, she said she couldn't help me. Then I SPECIFICALLY asked, "Even if I want to purchase my bridesmaid dresses here and am looking to order them NOW?" And I received the same dismissive response, along with an odd comment of how you've had problems in the past sharing measurements for dress sizes, so you no longer do. It made absolutely zero sense. I told her the rest of my girls are not nearby and can't come in to try on the dresses we select, that all I basically have are measurements to go off of! But after how rude she continued to be, we knew we didn't want to bother fighting an uphill battle and left. It was as if her mind was made up before she even spoke to us.
