An Impeccable System for Cultivating Excellence
Let’s be clear. I measure value in tangible returns, not in sentimental trivialities. JC Music in Meriden is not a "charming" local shop; it is a highly efficient system, and I am awarding it five stars because its output is perfection. The proof is in the progress: my son's piano technique has advanced with a speed and precision that is, frankly, remarkable.
The environment is critically acceptable. It is orderly. The instruments are clean, the sheet music is filed with a logical rigidity that I appreciate. There are no distracting posters or chaotic displays. This is a place of work, and its aesthetic reflects that serious purpose.
The instruction is the core of the operation. The individual responsible—a young, efficient woman—demonstrates a methodology I endorse completely. Her feedback is not diluted with unnecessary praise; it is a direct stream of technical corrections. "The dynamics are absent in this passage. Again." She focuses on the mechanics of performance, not on the ego of the performer. This is correct.
The results are undeniable. My son now approaches the keyboard not as a toy, but as a complex machine requiring mastery. His posture is flawless, his fingering exact. His rendition of a Clementi sonatina last Tuesday was not merely played; it was executed. There was a clarity, a lack of hesitation, that spoke to rigorous, disciplined training.
Watching him, I felt a sense of validation. My decision to enroll him here was correct. The investment has yielded a superior return. He is not simply learning notes; he is learning the virtue of discipline itself.
JC Music is a flawless institution in a world saturated with mediocrity. It is pristine, professional, and produces measurable results. I need to check my schedule. I am considering increasing the lesson frequency. Complacency is...
Read moreI am extremely irate with this music school. (Specifically Myron) I have been bringing my children (3 of them) for music lessons here for quite some time. Oldest son lessons on guitar, daughter lessons on violin and youngest lessons on Drums. (I wont mention how my daughter isnt able to get VIOLIN lesson as there is only one violin teacher and shes booked solid ALL OF THE TIME.)My complaint is with Myron...due to the craziness of the holidays and scheduling i had to change the days i usually bring them in as they were closed on xmas day. I accidentally double booked tuesday dec 26th as im normally free and called to try and reschedule the lesson. THERE IS NO VOICEMAIL TO LEAVE A MESSAGE.Myron is willing to lose business to the music school because he says i have to pay for the lesson that will be missed today. I couldnt call with 24hrs notice as they were closed it was xmas day. I am awaiting for a call from the owner. I have never...ever missed a lesson in the past it was an oversight. But its perfectly okay for them to cancel if the teachers are ill or inclement weather etc. Especially with the holiday season...a little humanity would have went a long way. I.was told NO....I MUST STILL PAY BECAUSE IT WAS WHAT I AGREED TO WHEN SIGNING UP. Steer clear away from this place if possible. Everything is about money and not to dedicated students and loyal parents. Myron offered me an email for future reference but this is an afterthought there is no teacher or contact info for text or email. Monday im expected to pay $66 plus tax which i find highly offensive and unacceptable. DO NOT GO HERE or you may end up getting...
Read moreI've been taking lessons for going on two years now at JC Music and it has been one of the greatest things I've ever done! From day one at my first lesson, I was playing a song and never stopped since. My instructor Jeff has been great to work with. Their approach to lessons and music works and gets anyone playing as quick as possible - making it fun, simple, and with instant positive reinforcement. The shop itself is also very flexible and understanding when it comes to scheduling- if I ever have a scheduling conflict with my lesson one day they're easy about either rescheduling or putting that toward a credit for the next month. I've never had any issues with scheduling or billing or overcharging - they've been great to do business with. Lastly, I've really enjoyed the two student showcases they do per year! It's a great way to put your skills to the test and feel like you're having something to work towards. Overall I'd highly recommend doing lessons at JC Music to anyone. If you're considering it, this...
