Ryder’s Ice Cream — Restaurant in Meriden

Amazing and kind staff! Prices are ALRIGHT in my opinion. My experience was one of mixed feelings. Myself being lactose intolerant was thrilled to see that a new ice cream shop here in Meriden serving a non dairy ice cream with a good amount of topping and flavors to combine. However, I ordered a large non dairy ice cream and the smallest one in a cup and was told the machine was broken but only after we paid. They did give us 2 free coins to redeem next time for 2 cones. they provided 2 small Italian ices as well but they are cheaper than what I ordered originally. Unfortunately I personally won’t be returning, just wasn’t expecting to be told the machine is broken after paying. The rating is for the experience more than the ice...

I was on my way home from lunch in Milford and drove right past Ryder's. Decided a shake was in order.

First, you must drive around behind Ion Bank to get to it. The menu offered many choices, but I went with my favorite, a black raspberry shake. The positive: the large is only $7, which is pretty good in the current economy. The negative: too much syrup for my preference. The taste was overpowering. There was also a slight hint of banana flavor, which is not a bad thing if it was on purpose.

My plan is to return and try something else, so I can give them a chance to earn the fifth star. Hot fudge sundae sounds...

Good ice cream. Non-dairy options are slushy and Italian Ice. Lots of ice cream sundaes, milkshakes, and other ice cream treats to choose from. Prices range from $4 to $10. No lids so plan accordingly especially with little ones in the car. Service friendly but not overly speedy. A few benches to wait for orders and limited parking means orders are meant to be to-go. A very nice treat for a warm day out. Note- slushies are perfect in that their ice is fine and there is plenty of flavor. In other words, it won't turn into a wad of ice after a few sips. Lots of toppings for their 'stacker' sundaes. They are built for finding buried...
