Attended the C.S. Lewis "Great Divorce" and was very disappointed (not in the performance, in the venue and the staff). Entering the venue, it was not clearly marked that there were two concurrent performances. The ticket takers (on the main level) did not direct us to the BALCONY, so we waited in the downstairs main line excessively. The house manager herself tore our paper tickets and sent us inside the main house without directing us upstairs (where there were ticket takers on the upper levels doing nothing, They could have alleviated the crowded line downstairs had people been sent directly to them for ticket-tearing). It was as though the staff had never had to deal with guests arriving for a play previously nor managed a crowd with both electronic and paper tickets. Ridiculous. Finally, our seats were in the balcony and it was extremely hot. For $193 with fees, three of us sat in a hot balcony after waiting to park and waiting in line in the lobby for far too long. Everyone was nice, but their incompetence was troubling. I would avoid attending another event here, just because of this one experience. I brought students with me who had never been to a live play before, and their first experience was...

Buyer beware. I booked my girlfriend and I our first art class for our birthdays. On the day of the class we had an emergency and were unable to attend that class so I reached out to see if I could reschedule. I attempted to call the admissions office that morning and was met by a rude, young sounding receptionist who misunderstood what I was asking and attempted to angrily spout out the wrong details. When I corrected what I was asking for I was advised that she couldn’t help me and advised that I send an email to ask for permission. Today I find the response to my email advising that I am out $150 since they are unwilling to offer a reschedule or even a partial credit for an upcoming class. The director of studios blames it on someone above her, which is really a corporate way of passing the blame since she didn’t even attempt to loop this individual in. I really would have loved to make this my go to place for activities since it’s so close to home, but it’s sad that I can’t even feel confident in my community art center being understanding about a...

I have been to the Mesa Arts Center so many times, for a variety of different events, both as an audience member and a performer, and I have never been disappointed with it as a venue. It is always clean, the employees are always friendly and happy to help, and the theatres are great for the different shows. I think the Piper Theatre recently got new seats that are extremely comfortable- you would want to fall asleep if the shows weren't so interesting. My only complaint is that I always get lost here. The auditoriums/theatres are labeled differently on the tickets than what is prominently displayed on the walls. There are usually multiple events going on at the same time, but the theatres don't have signs or anything saying what event is happening in which one so it can often be confusing and more difficult than necessary to find where you are supposed to be. They need to do more small gigs and poetry slams!

This was the first time out to the Mesa Arts Center and it is quite the impressive complex. I will say that the venue organization for this particular event - Kenny Wayne Shepherd & Beth Hart Band, seemed a little awkward as far as the opening of the doors and entry to the theatre. The wait was until just a few minutes before the show was supposed to start before they started allowing patrons into the theater. My seat was in the Balcony row B seat 46, which left me with a view of about 2/3 of the stage unless I stood up - which in turn impeded other’s view. The sound system and acoustics was excellent. There is parking on site in a lot and covered garage along with nearby parking on the neighboring streets in the downtown area. There are a few eateries and watering holes within walking distance for before or after a concert as well for those traveling from out of town.
