Tacos Chiwas — Restaurant in Mesa

UPDATE: I’m dropping this down to one star until they get one of the waitresses retrained in food handling, the health code, and customer service. I took my wife here tonight to try this place. I had eaten here before, and I thought it was pretty good. Tonight, the guy behind the bar was really cool and and gave us some great suggestions as we ordered our tacos. And that’s where the positive experience ended. Our waitress could not have been more cold and rude. She dropped our food off and quickly took off without saying a word to us. When my wife was coming back from the salsa bar, our waitress bumped into her. It did not knock her down, but it was hard enough that the waitress should have said something and apologized. She said nothing. I quickly noticed that we had an extra plate on our table. It was a quesadilla and a taco that clearly did not belong to us. I could not find our waitress for quite a while. About 10 minutes had passed, and I saw the waitress and ran to her and told her that she left someone else’s order on our table 10 minutes ago. She looked it over, looked at the order number, and walked away and handed it to the table that had been waiting for the food. By the time I got to the table, the customer had already taken a bite out of the quesadilla. I let her know that the plate had been on my table for at least 10 minutes. The customer was shocked and thanked me for letting her know. The scary part is, the waitress knows that that had been sitting at our table for 10 minutes and still served it. That is a health code violation. That is terrible customer service. We will never be back. If management want to respond to this, I will gladly let them know which waitress did this. As I read through the reviews, I see that this Mesa location has a lot of issues with rude wait staff. Several reviewers recommend not judging the franchise based on this Mesa location.

Never met a Taco place I didn't like....until Tacos Chiwas. If I could give 0 stars I would. Upon arrival, it was packed, so I thought it was a good sign. Boy was I wrong. Ordered 3 different tacos. Chicken, asada and another one I don't recall. Took a single bite from each,two I was able to swallow but awful. one, I had to literally spit out in my napkin. Like something a little kid would do, I know it was ridiculous. It was that shocking! Not because of too spicy, just the flavor. Not sure if it was the neat or the seasoning or marinade or what? Literally this has never happened to me before, like at any restaurant EVER in all my life. There's been places I've though well eh, it's ok but won't go there again, but was still able to eat the food. Thought I'd POLITELY ask for a refund, was Politely declined by the manager. She told me to look around,how popular and busy they are, no one has ever complained and since nothing was wrong with the order other than I simply didn't like it no refund would be given. It was a long shot but thought I'd try. 14$ lesson learned. Thank goodness I didn't get an order to go home to the family, as was the plan. Nope. Never again. Now I have to point out, that everyone else I was with, found their food fine. It was literally just me. Food is good. Service on the other hand... we always have an issue when our food comes out. They never seem to know what we ordered. They don't print receipts and honestly most of the names of the items sound the same. So it's a struggle each time. I expressed this to the waitress. She agreed and said she would let her manager know next time she was in. Our food order got mixed up w/another person's who was with us. We got it straightened out. A second waitress comes by later asking if everything was OK. We all say yes. She then starts telling me that she had other customers telling her I was rude and made the first waitress (who I later found out is her sister) cry. I was completely confused b/c I was not rude. Frustrated, yes. Rude, no. So she continues on, now I am sitting and trying to eat while she is standing over me telling me I'm rude. Everytime I tried to calmly talk, she'd cut me off. I told her all we did was discuss the issue we had with the food and it's always the same issue each time we come. She asks me why I keep coming back then? Wow. So then I did get rude. I let her know I'll be talking to the manager and then she remarks the manager is her best friend and acts like she is 12 while saying it. I left. I will not be back. The food is good but its not that good. And if you don't want my business, I'm good giving...
